Interior Trim Discrepancy

I discovered something odd while going through BMW VIN decoders for my vehicle. Plugged in my VIN on two different VIN decoding websites and both are telling me my interior trim finish should be something called "Black High Gloss".

From RuBMW.ru's VIN decoder:

From BMWarchive.org's VIN decoder:

Two websites are telling me the same thing. Now take a look at a picture of my interior:

Not that I don't like the silver finished trim that I have, but why are the VIN decoders telling me something else? Everything else decoded on both sites are spot on save for this one little thing.

I've owned the car for around 2½ years now and I can't believe I never noticed this before while going through these decoders.

Have you considered the possibility the previous owner liked this silver one better?

They also apparently like the M5 shift knob better. Looks like you bought a slightly modified car.

Previous owner likely swapped it out.

If "black high gloss" is the same as the piano black, be glad you don't have it.

Black high gloss is just glossy black plastic. Piano Black is wood that is finished with the same process as a piano.

I would love to have Piano black. It is gorgeous. The Glossy Black is just black plastic.

So long as you don't touch it. That will leave swirl marks :-/
