F8x Destined to be most Popular M3 Ever?

I commute between LA and OC everyday and do a fair amount of traveling throughout California and I swear I see more F82s then E92s and they've only been out a year! I don't see as many other F80s but I definitely see much more than E90 M3s.

I dunno if it's because the E9xs launched during the Great Recession or is it because we live in car crazy California but seems like the new M cars are a hit. Especially in YMB, AY, and BSM.

Since I got one yeah..lol.
There is something special about the E92s, they have a certain look to them which makes them more distinct. Maybe I didn't pay attention back then but to me there seems to be to many similarities between the M Sport models and true M cars. I didn't feel that way about the E92, when I saw an M3 in the previous gen, it was an M3 for sure.

BMW introduced their 0.9% Financing offer on the E9X which attracted a lot of buyers from different models. There's a ton of them out there.

I am now starting to see m3/4's on the road. I feel like I see a lot less of them than I did of the e9x's. I am sure statistically you could get a better idea of how they are selling vs a first model year e9x.

The E9x's were great. But the F80/82s is a whole new kind of beast in comparison.

F8x attracts most of the old E9x guys and a whole new breed of buyers who want big power in a strait line. In GA seems to be more F80s vs F82 but I think the owner demographic is a tad older than Cali. For instance I dont know any local young 20yo ppl with them. All are 30+.

We will have to wait to see if BMW releases first year sales.

Personally I feel like it has been less popular. Up until recently, I use to go days with out seeing another one.

Lots of delays in production through the first year too tho. My car took over 6 months.

Also think the more favorable lease deals(really good residuals) that came out in March have something to do with it. My local dealer had 14 M3/M4's on the lot for a couple months, they are now down to 2.

Man you know.. I see a ton of F8x. Also, I think the incentives were to move the ones without a CF roof. Every dealer had a bunch of them.

How does one know if your car has been flagged? Is it something internal by VIN or do they put something on your car like the other guy that got orange paint all over his bolts? Curious.

There is a small disclaimer linked to your VIN for every bmw dealer to see, it happens during key read as well. A little window will pop up indicating the detailed facts as to why the vehicle in question is flagged.

What are these cars getting flagged for? Aftermarket modifications?

Unfortunately... Every dealer has contributed their parts in minimizing efforts to those that are willing to modify their vehicles. Not to say it's bad because most people take pride in what they own and how they want to own it. Sadly some dealers take their job obligations a little more seriously than most, not even for one second thinking about the community and how important it is to ultimately satisfy customers.
