Question Have I made a good move?

Last weekend I part-ex'd a manual 2008 320i M Sport with 71000 miles on it for an auto (with paddle shift) 2007 330i M Sport with 74000 miles on it. The 330 is pretty spotless for a 2007.

I got 7500 for the 320i and topped up the pot with 2000 for the 330i, in total 9500 for the 330.

330 is the same color, I have smaller (only by 1") but newly refurbished wheels and spotless alcantara interior.

The 330 is a dream to drive, fast and comfortable.

I just wanted thoughts on whether or not I got a good deal?

No, it's 258 bhp. The car was built/registered March 07.

It's about to get mapped though

Very nice looking car. Is it the LCI version? I payed 8.2k for my 2006 335i tourer, manual trans. It has 130k on the clock tho. I was looking at getting it remaped, fitting an LSD and thicker anti roll bars. How much more power can you get form remaping the 330?

I'd kill to have been able to get an E92 330i. I think you'll be very happy with it, OP.

Thanks man, I love it so far. No it's the Pre-LCI.

Going from the guys I'm thinking of using for re-mapping they've told me I can get +14 Bhp and +16 ft-lbs torque out of it before the need to start looking at other upgrades.

So basically taking it to what a post Sept-07 model is, speed wise.

I am so far. Paddle shift is so fun to use. Have you done any mods worth doing?

BMW Performance Exhaust + 2ndary cat delete has far and away been my favorite mod. Exhaust upgrades will definitely be prioritized on my next car, I waited way to long on this one - didn't know what I was missing I guess.

Obviously the car is very powerful, which is great. This is going to be a blast to drive.

I think 2000 is a bit much to spend to get a powerful car, but if you're comfortable with it, great.

Phew! The March 2007 cars had significant improvements over anything before them. For example, the coding capabilities of WhatApp differ depending on Pre March 2007 vs Post March 2007 E9x

Nice looking Motor!

Its just the FRM module that limits coding.

He could get a FRM2 and install with coding

Or go with LCI led taillights and go straight to FRM3 and be done with it.

The CAS should be able to be updated to a newer Daten version of there options he wants that aren't editable. Also he can code using the nettodata method for angeleye brightness and dimming.

Good luck with the car. I agree as well. I wish there was an E92 330i in the states

2000? More powerful? Huh? I did the upgrade purely for the sound. I bought the BMW PE used on these forums for $650 and then bought a set of AFE mid-pipes for $250. Add in another $50 for exhaust clamps... then DIY and I'm still less than $1k for a really nice sounding setup.

You bought an older car with more miles and spent more money to get it. That isn't exactly a 'good' deal. Also manual to auto is a downgrade but I like to row my own. At the end of the day it's only a good deal if you are happy with it. For a few thousand more you could of been in a 335i with the same miles fwiw.

Don't think it was worth it, but as long as OP is fine with it...

Fair comments. I suppose nobody saw the condition of the 320i I part-ex'd, it suffered from noticeable dents and scratches, alloys were scuffed and I think it was about to get coil pack issues as it misfired not so long back. So for me, the extra money paid and the lose of a few thousand miles.....plus the extra bhp of the 330 was worth it.

I disagree about the manual to auto as a downgrade. I'm still able to drive the car in manual with the use of the paddle shift, and its serious fun.

335 is next! Thanks for your feedback

If you think the 330 is a good difference from the 4 pot, you are in for a surprise with the 335 when you get it. It's a 'properly' fast car, any way you look at it. Very satisfying, and the whooooosh from the engine bay, even when stock...epic.

That's pretty good figures for an NA engine. Shame its not a post LCI, Im a bit gutted I haven't got angle eyes been looking into fitting some but there so damn expensive, I'd rather put the money towards performance upgrades. I've gotta have a manual box myself but before I bought my Tourer I was using a Smart Brabus, the auto box was just hourendous but when you used the paddle shifters instead (and compansated for the near 1 second shift time) it was a hoot to drive, so I can imagine it being very fun in a 330!

I'd say its pretty good for an NA engine with no mods. With a good intate and exhaust you could easily get more but many many $$$$$ well more $ than on a boosted engine anyway.
