Oil filter housing cap is stuck?

When i had an oil leak im assuming after they changed the oil and stuff they over torqued the oil filter cap because from the looks of it it looks like its seized on the thing if it makes sense

You have the correct fluted adapter ? It should not slip if it's the right size. 86mm 16 flutes.

No panic.

Either put a thin towel over the cap to get grip with that wrench or go get a oil filter Plier or band. Try the thin towel (paper or fabric, or sand paper works too) over the cap first. That will make the wrench fit snug.

If none of that works, replace the drain plug and fill it with oil, change the filter some other time.

No. You obviously want to change it too, as the remaining dirty oil there will contaminate the new one a bit, but you can change the filter later without changing it all over. Just take the filter and add a little more oil afterwards.

But definitely try paper towel or sand paper first. Sand paper works even without the wrench, with the bare hand.

Well ideally you want to change it out but if you leave it in one more oil change it won't explode, but if you can replace it. If it becomes too clogged and/or dirty it could starve your engine for oil.

Don't be too quick to fault the previous guy who tightened it. Early during my ownership, I had tightened once myself, when it still had the green pen mark placed by the factory worker visible on the cap and the edge of the housing. I had tightened until it lined up at the mark, by hand. Come next oil change, I couldn't untighten by hand no matter how much I tried. Dirt, corrosion had bound the rubber and plastic to the metal housing by time. Had to buy one of these, autozone and similar carry it.

You can make your own tool. All you need is a bicycle chain (~32 links) and a cheap wrench socket (eg for a mopped spark plug). Infeed the chain into the hole that's for the breaker bar and close it with a locking link. That tool wont let you down not even on smoothed out surfaces The pics give you an impression
