Dings on Rims, is this normal?
I'm not sure if this is due to the potholes. Can someone please give me their input? They appeared after the winter season, I notice similar dings on one of my other wheel too.
Also, how much do you think it will cost to repair? But if this happens again next winter, I think I'll be draining my money since I'll need to get them repaired again next winter. Any alternatives? |

No it's not normal. The damage depends on the style, design and material of the wheels.
Get your wheels balanced and make sure the balancing is done correctly. You should be good if you do not notice any issue with the drive or steering if it's front wheel. |

Weird denting. Obviously take it to a wheel repair expert and get yourself a set of winter wheels/tires to avoid damage to these wheels in the winter if you live in a cold region.

Looks like shopping cart damage to me. A heavily laden runaway cart or a pissed off shopper. Definitely caused by a blunt object.

I have never seen that before. I saw someone mention shopping car damage, that sounds pretty reasonable. One thing I'm sure of however, is that is NOT pothole damage.

I was thinking pothole now I know what might be the cause. I had my car towed once in winter and must be the chains they put on the rim. Wow...I don't know what to do now

I think you got it!! It would require substantial force to compress a wheel like that. A chain and come along like the ones used to secure cars would definitely be enough. Sorry!!

Why would you let them use chains on your wheel? You should have watched them carefully. They should have used straps to secure the care if they were going to use the wheels.

I asked him twice, he said it won't damage the rims. It was a snowy night and I was stuck on the road for 3+ hours and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible....never again.
