Think you right on all points some dealers do seem to think they are doing you a favour by putting a roof over your head for a while.
Only point to remember is sometimes the equipment / personnel required to do the job may already be on another task and so unavailable which is why you had to wait. Personally I find it better if you're going to wait to pop in first thing before they can start on another car Suggest you name and shame on here you'll find it quite therapeutic. |

I don't think it's wrong to want to feel like a valued customer at all. Decent customer service should be a given whatever car you're driving.
Maybe they do want to prioritise someone driving an i8 but it's pretty short sighted if in the process they piss off several other drivers of more main-stream models. With a bit of luck you might get a customer service feedback call. I understand the dealers don't enjoy getting 0 stars .... |

Name and shame.
Also make sure you rate them poorly when they phone you. Explain in detail why it's so poor. Ask how they score customer satisfaction, then give lowest number. |

Yes, similar experience when getting winter wheels changed to summers, two hours to change despite a timed appointment. I complained and was told that they were exceptionally busy that day! Nobody said that when I checked in.
Three days later I received a letter asking me if I would rate their handling of my service/repair, so I did I reminded them that if it takes an F1 team 8 seconds or so to change a set of wheels how come it took them two hours. Needless to say I got no reply |

An F1 team now takes about 2-3 seconds, it was refuelling that made it 8!
I did my own winter wheel change and it took me about 20 minutes a corner... And, that was me being very careful and washing my brake calipers, copper greasing the spigot and very carefully torquing up the wheel bolts... So, a novice can beat the professionals! Did you buy from this dealer? My local dealer, Lloyds Cockermouth, have always been very helpful, more so as the car value increased. Though, they were blunt when I was negotiating in saying that they always prioritise their own sales over others for service.

Seems dealers nearly always do work at their own convenience rather than the customers.

I'm one of the lucky people who have access to a BMW management car... Even when the car belongs to group my local dealer is ineffective at best, useless barstards at worst... If they can't be bothered to look after people who allow them to trade (give them their franchise) what do they do to normal customers... I think they're all the same

Sytner Oldbury and specifically their service and techs are the worst that I have encountered.I've vowed never to spend another penny there (not that they probably give a shite!).
I now have to travel much further to Rybrook Warwick and couldn't be happier.Such a contrast. |

On another occasion, complete lack of flexibility with regards warranty claims-there appeared to be issues between the service department and techs, with the customer bearing the brunt. This left me having to raise complaints with BMW UK and a Sytner representative that used to frequent this forum, way back. I also made the mistake of forgetting to ask them not to wash my car (basics!).After collecting my key,I found the interior(!) soaking wet (and I mean sopping in parts). There were other issues regards warranty work as well. But other than that, they were spot on! Anyway, onwards and back to the op... |

Jesus I would have destroyed them in court, surely breach of trade descriptions.
I used that against Ford once they absolutely shit themselves, maybe these dealerships need teaching a lesson... |

Name and shame this outstanding dealer.
Always makes me laugh that these cretins behind the desks with their little power have zero abilities to buy brand new cars costing £30, 40, 50, 60+ thousand pounds yet threat them and their owners (who provide them with a living) with indifference and an inconvenience. Maybe it's because of this fact... And this is usually evidenced by the 15-20 piles of crap parked on the road out the back... |

I've used Wood BMW (now Ridgeway) in Hampshire and always found them to be pretty good; not necessarily quick, but polite, nice coffee (or cans if you prefer) and not really made any cock-ups so far.
Also, the sales side were pretty good. When I bought my F30 I wasn't sure if I wanted a manual or auto. When I turned up for my (booked) test drive the salesman, who admittedly I've known for 10 years, handed me two sets of keys and said 'there is a 320d manual and 320d auto outside, come back when you are done'. An hour later I came back to find he'd found and priced all the similar cars he could lay his hands on (the F30 was new and stock fairly rare back then), and had details laid out ready for me. He had my deposit by the time I left. Unfortunately, the guy seems to have moved on/retired now, and my dealer introduced me to his replacement. 'Hi, this is Josh', they said, and introduced me to the guy I'd bought my wife's Hyundai from 3 months earlier. How spooky is that! This compares to the Skoda dealer I went to last month, where the salesman tried all the dumb and dirty tricks in the book to get me to sign up to a crap deal there and then, for a car that wasn't even there to see let alone drive - it was almost comical. It was really amusing after he'd done his spiel on a PCP deal and I whipped out a PCH offer from another Skoda dealer that was literally half the deposit and half the monthly payments.

As a tip for those complaining to BMW customer services etc.
I get very occasionally have 'stuff' come through from our customer service department. If the customer has detailed the exact issue (not always a complaint, can be a question etc), then we resolve it and ensure sorted. What is hard to sort is those general rants, they don't really solve things and nothing gets sorted. So yeah rant, however be constructive with it. It's also worth asking how they score customer replies 0 to 8 etc. Stating the score and comments are against a specific department. |
