DC area dealer asleep at the Wheel

Has anyone gotten any info from one of the DC dealers about allocation? Other than demo cars at least? Passport? Sterling? VOB? Fairfax? Arlington?

DC Area Info

JuniorDee

I put down my deposit in July of 07 and contacted my dealer at Passport when the MSRP info was released a little while ago. My dealer assured me that I was at the "top of the list" but that it would be a few weeks (i.e. now or next week) before I would be able to place my order. I've gotten a number of cars from him in the past and recommended a lot of business, so he usually dispenses with the B.S.

Passport hmm... Thats who I am delaing with as well. I had a deposit at Sterling since 1/07 and Passport but Sterling was unable to provide me with a ranking where I was so I withdrew my name for the m3 and swiitched it to the x6. I have never bought from Passport but they have been upfront with me whenever I had a question for them. I am #4 and I was told the list has over 60 names on it now but I haven't heard a thing from them other than the demo car is coming some time this month.

So much for me being at the "top of the list" if you put the deposit down in January of 07! Let's just say I'm hoping absolutely no one put a deposit down in the six months that went by in between your deposit and mine. Did they tell you what color combo the demo was going to be? I've pretty much made up my mind on Space Gray just deciding on Fox Red or Black interior.

I am in the same boat, I put my deposit down June 07 at VOB. My parents have been loyal VOB customers and have a close relationship with our sales woman. She has been on point and giving me updates, I was able to spec my car on October 27th 2007. Then she told me I would be able to get my M3 by March. Since then the only information I have recieved was a scan of the dealer released MSRP and new M3 brochure. No other word on order status

I placed a deposit in March of '07 at Sterling. My SA told me I am #7 on the list and they received 5 production numbers in January. He told me he should receive the next set of production numbers "soon", sometime this month. He said they usually get the production numbers in the beginning of the month. Keeping my fingers crossed!

ok this is what I got from Passport. They are expecting the demo car end of this month. In the first allocation they got 2 cars, apparently the highest in the dc area. Those 2 are set for production in the beginning of march. They will receive the next set of allocation at the end of this month. If they stick to the list, I should be ordering by the end of the month, but I am not holding my breath.

Passport's claim of 2 allocations being the highest in the DC area conflicts with Sterling having 5 allocations already. Well, hopefully they'll get a higher number for February. I'm like you - keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath. As long as I can have my car somewhere in the April timeframe, I'll be happy.

I'm at passport too unfortunately im #9 but I was told that there were only 240 or so first allocations. If sterling got 5 that would be alot unless they are already on the second round of allocations.

I got a call from Passport yesterday. I was asked to configure my car, I did. I was told the car would go into production at the end of the month and would receive it 8 weeks later.

I just got a call from my sales woman, I am now 112 with a production number. She said I was in the first group of allocated cars for VOB and I would recieve the car March 30th, however I am getting performance center delivery!

My final specs:
A29 Silverstone
NCSW Black Novillo Leather
ZTP Tech Package
ZPP Premium Package
2MT 19 inch wheels (she says no information about any delay because of wheel shortages)
403 moonroof
6fl Ipod usb adaptor

That's good news. I contacted Passport earlier this morning to get an update and am hoping to hear something positive on my end. What color combo did you get?

Perhaps I am boring but i got the same color combo I have on my 335i. Jet Black, black leather, brushed Aluminum. I have never been a fan of the wood trims, and the carbon trim doesnt do anything for me. I garage my car, so I dont have a problem keeping the Black paint clean, and I think that extended leather is uneccessary, its the only option (along with moonroof) I didnt get. I dont need my glove box or the console wrapped in leather.

The "out the door" price has come in at $72,668.

Know anyone that wants to buy a 335i coupe with 12k miles on it?

Junior

You can't go wrong w/black on black. I'm basically getting the same options package as you and agree that there isn't any need for the extended leather. When you say "out the door" price, what do you mean? Is that the price that Passport quoted you?

Boost

I still don't know what number I am on the list! As soon as I find out, I'll let you know.

Out the door price is what I have to pay to take the car out of the dealership. I wanted to know as early as possible what my figure is because I want to figure out how much I want to finance vs pay cash.

Net Total $67,545.00 + Destination Charge $775.00 + Gas Guzzler Tax $1,300.00 = MSRP $69,620.00 + $100 Processing + $2948 Tax and Tags = $72,668 out the door price
