Tyre replacement query

So hit a sizeable crater on the motorway today and have a small bulge in the offside front sidewall - barely noticeable. I presume the prevailing opinion is get the tyre replaced?

TPMS hasn't flagged anything......yet.......

It's a Runflat, Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 2 which I am happy with as a choice so I'd just get a direct replacement.

There's approx 5.5mm tread left on the front tyres.

So do I need one tyre replaced, or both front tyres replaced? - It's an xDrive if that makes a difference.

Grr

I would definitely replace the damaged tyre and leave the other one as with 5.5mm of tread it has a fair few miles left in it.

It's advised to replace both tyres on the same axle on xDrive as the difference in rolling radius will wear the new tyre quicker. At 5.5mm though I think replacing one tyre will be ok.

TPWS won't trigger if no pressure has been lost.

Agree. Or buy a wheel to keep a spare in the garage

I have heard that you should replace both tyres on the same axle when it is 4 wheel drive.

The manual for my S5 said to replace all 4

4x£200 each time a puncture happens? Yeah right...

Thanks for input. Have decided to get both front tyres replaced, keep spare undamaged tyre for a replacement in future should same happen again. Local tyre place doing both for around 320 which overall quite happy with.

Nice! Especially as it's not much more than BMW charge for one tyre, they quoted me £280 to replace each rear Bridgestone!

Depending on the dealer they will negotiate; my local dealer price matched tyreleader last week on my sisters JCW.

Replace the tyre if bulging. Quite an eye opener when you see it off the rim. Had one siimillar about a 2 inch bulge but a 5 inch crack on the inside !!!

Try suing the council ???

I'd normally photograph the pothole but it was in the outside lane of the M74 so I though better of it!
