Connected Drive
In case anyone tries to be super organised like me and update their Connected Drive account with their new car - don't bother!
Apparantly there is some sort of big overhaul going on which will take 4 weeks and nothing can be changed on the CD accounts and new ones cannot be set up. I'm sure that whoever has my old car will appreciate me continuing to locking and unlocking it and flashing the lights On a serious note, it's a bit of a security flaw and I wouldn't be too happy |

As OP. I phoned only yesterday and was told exactly the same: "four weeks", but not a specific day / date!

Maybe after fixing a basic design flaw at beginning of Feb that left 2 million cars exposed they have had a more detailed look at the code and decided it's too unsafe to use!
Can't see offhand any other reason that a big company would pull the service.....

I've just managed to successfully set this up too so as Tim says seems service is back to normal. Although in the last 12 days (since I collected my car) can't think of a single time when I thought using connected drive/remote services would have been useful.
Would someone be as kind enough to enlighten me on what connected drive is actually capable of doing? |

I turned on the ventilation before leaving my desk yesterday afternoon, and by the time I got to the car it was nice and cool. Helps on sunny days!

Connect Services website -> register -> add car (you'll need last 7 digits of VIN) -> a message will be sent to your car (retrieve through connected drive ->messages), take the activation code from the message and type it into your browser. After this your car will now be linked to the account, there is also an option online to activate remote services, click on this option and within a few minutes you should get an email saying remote services have now been activated. (note: it was a few minutes in my experience but officially I think they say to allow 24 hours). Hope this helps! |

I activated mine once had vin and reg, a week or so before actually received the car. However, that new method seems far quicker, might be an enhancement to the website |
