DPF clamp query
subject should be DPF clamp query
hi, I recently had a service done by a BMW dealer (as part of service inclusive pack). The service highlighted some work that needs to be done: Check Exhaust: Clamp snapped at DPF does anyone know what this clamp is and if its a DIY to replace. My brakes also need doing. BMW quoted me 408 for the front pads and discs and 120 for the back pads . So I told them to leave this work and the clamp as the brakes I can do for quarter of the price myself. My car is E90. 2010 320d n47 engine. many thanks Last edited by tazg101; 01-21-2015 at 11:51 AM.. |

I guess it's reference to #2 It could be a DIY, depends on time / skills. With regards to discs and pads. Do them yourself! It's a very simple job, just make sure you go OEM pads and discs. I go for Textar or ATE normally although I hear Jurid are also used. |

hi, thanks for that. your link doesn't work though.
Brakes will be doing myself. Done a few DIYs in past and brakes are easy. Just couldn't believe BMW's price for the job, they must of thought I had more money than sense. Sorry I see the link now. Is this easy to get to? BMW quoted £45 for this job so I guess its not very time consuming. |

I've never done the clamp thing before or even inspected it to be honest. I guess it's the clamp to turbo in which case it wouldn't be too difficult. Don't take my work for it though! Hopefully a more knowledgable soul will pipe up.

Very easy job,16mm nut on the clamp winds completely off,Split the exhaust from the DPF pipe, remove old clamp with a bit of force ie big screwdriver but it will leave a small spot weld stub.Grind or file this off then fit new clamp and rebuild. All done.
