Broke it, anyone ever had to replace it?

The genius that I am I attempted to replace the front dome light bulb without first replacing some of the easier ones.

So, I bent/broke the pins badly enough in the dome light socket so that I now need to replace it.

I pried down the piece that frames the SOS, Sunroof buttons but I sensed I was getting ready to break more stuff so I backed off.

Anyone ever replaced this? I really don't want to go to a Dealer for the part or the install, anyone know of a site that sells quality replacement parts?

I am easing into making changes to my completely stock 2011 335i E90. Hell, the CP was easier than the damn dome light was although to rear one was cake.......second time around.

Guys I have not yet attempted to replace it but a member of this forum sent me a socket for the bulb so I will be replacing it as soon as I get some time. Awfully damn nice of the guy to mail it to me I might add.

Whats great is it's not the entire assembly but just the socket portion so as soon as I figure out how to replace just that part I will post it.

It's been awhile but I think I need to remove the visor and drop the headliner down enough to get under it to push in clips to remove the dome light assembly.

Dropping the headliner is not something I want to do as I am concerned that it will never look the same after I am finished with it.

That was very nice of someone to mail it to you!

I have been on other forums where there is a "pay it forward & free give away section" I think we should have one here as well.

Couldn't agree more! I recently found a Mac Book Pro at an airport and shipped it back to its owner and I found a pilots hat in a NY taxi and sent it back to its owner. All I asked of both were to send my son a Christmas card as he was serving in Afganistan having done two tours in Iraq and it was he second there.

A bit off topic but your comment is spot on.
