Break-In service question
So my car came misaligned. Took it in to get that fixed at around 400mi and the dealer did the 1200 break-in without me asking and specifically telling them not to. Anyone have an idea of what problems this may cause and can they redo it at 1200? I already told them I'm going to make them.

The whole idea of the running-in service is to ensure the engine has "run-in" to the factory recommendation. There is some speculation that BMW uses a break-in oil (maybe not...unconfirmed), but they should have waited until at least 1000 miles or thereabouts. I guess it's spilled milk now. I'd ensure you have it documented and then get another oil change at 1,200 or 1,300 and get the remaining metal out.
Then...hit the racetrack! |

So according the the dealer manager, they can actually do the oil change anytime after 100miles. It MUST be done before 1200. He was trying to tell me it was ok, but said if I wanted, I can bring it in at 1200 and they're change it again for free. I will be taking it back for my free oil change (unless anyone has a reason I shouldn't), but it kind of makes me wonder if he's telling the truth or not since he was willing to change it again.
