Brake Noise?
Hello everyone, I got my 435i X-Drive around 5 months ago and it has been one hell of a ride, perfect in every sense. However starting 3 months ago, my brakes would start to squeal after a decent 15-20 minute drive, when applying them at low speeds (stopping for a traffic light, braking while going down a small incline) My dealer has my 1st car check up scheduled at 10,000 km. My car just reached 4000 km. Should I be concerned about the brakes and the noise they are producing or is it normal? I live in Beirut (coastal city) so could it be just the humidity or is something more serious in line? The reason I ask is because my 528i doesn't produce any braking noise whatsoever and it is put under daily intensive use.
Thanks in advance |

None of the above, only squealing/squeaking at extremely low speeds while braking.

Welcome to the world of BMW squealy brakes. I suffered a similar problem when brakes were cold. After multiple and lame dealer excuses I got fed up and switched to Akebono brake pads. Totally silent.

Mine only squeal with my snow tires and rims. When my oem's are mounted no noise at all. Reading another thread about this there was a consensus that the torque applied to the lug nuts wasn't set right and causing the squeal. That may the the case as my oem's should be at 120 lbs and the other rims at 130. The tire shop doing the swap set them at BMW spec of 120. Haven't tested by tightening the winters as I would rather have squeal vs potential rotor damage from and over tightened wheel. Perhaps you should check the torque applied to your wheels.

If it really bothers you you can take it to the dealer and ask them to look at it. Most likely they will put some dampening paste and/or replace the brake pad shim

I have a m-sport and it squeals here and there. Dealership said its normal. What also helped was getting a car wash, the brake dust could be causing it as well.
