Moved from S4 to 335d GT

A bit of a marmite car but saw it in the dealers and was amazed by the space in it and some of the wee extras that make it a bit different (like the spoiler and power boot)

Decided to trade the Audi S4 in and come back to BMW. The features have changed a lot since my e92 days

Hello again everyone

Welcome back. I love my GT for its space. Would love your engine but hey the company car tax would be a killer. Enjoy.

I was so surprised at just how much space there is. Even with the front seats fully back its still more room than any car I have ever been in

I test drove a 330D xDrive GT on Friday and have an order in for the same car currently although I am thinking I might go the whole hog and take a 335D instead.
Have you got the car already or just ordered? Would love to read your thoughts on it!

Ordered it end of August and got it yesterday :-)
If you order the msport brakes it adds quite a delay to delivery as they have issues just now with supply.

Car wise, I previously had an e92 56 reg 335d, and moved to the s4 and never looked back with the sluggish idrive and and auto box and no traction.
The new 335d seems very different as the idrive and 8 speed are so much better and slicker.

GT wise, the space inside is outstanding and the passengers are loving. It has more space in the rear than a 5 series and more space in the boot than a tourer. Lots of neat little touches like the parcel shelves fold away and store under the boot floor. The power boot lid, or the little auto spoiler at the back.

Not had a chance to push it much as its still running in, but it feels a lot better than the manual 320d that I had in the test drive when ordering.

The price difference between the 330D and 335d wasn't much as the 335d comes with the xdrive as standard and I pushed for more discount and got it.

Sounds ideal to me! I hadn't really thought about the GT properly until weighing everything up and realising I didn't really want to go 5 series just yet and knowing that the tourer wouldn't quite cut it with the space I was looking for, so the GT suddenly came into the equation and I haven't looked back.

I have specced the M Sport + pack but apparently the brakes are less of an issue now and my initial delivery date is looking like mid-Jan. Have a couple of days to confirm the exact spec and think I'll be keeping what I have but taking the 335 instead of the 330.

Appreciate your thoughts! Thanks.

There is an m sport design pack which is the same as m sport+ but without the brakes (I read mixed reviews on the brakes, so really up to you if you want them or save 500 quid or use it on something else)

Good point but I think the brakes look good and don't mind the wait (plus have a company car 330d sDrive Saloon until the end of December anyway).

I think the 335 GT comes in at 1800+ kgs - does it feel heavy at all? Have you got adaptive suspension or passive?

its only done 100 miles so far and is sitting at 38mpg. Was showing 50mpg while sitting on motorway for a while

I've got the normal suspension. Car doesn't feel heavy just now but i think because the steering is so light just now you don't feel as much

No doubt it will still be very tight so will be interested to see how this changes when a) it's loosened up a bit b) when you've passed your running in stage and start really charging around!

I'm hoping for 37mpg average from the 335d, and over 17K miles I've calculated (roughly) it will cost £200-300 more than a 330d xDrive to fuel. I can live with that!

I had an S4 before moving over to a 330d. Considering my S4 did 26mpg on average and 22 if you booted it I am happy with the 42 I get now!

Got 410 miles out its first tank for 65 quid, which is at least 25% better than the s4
