Hi Guys - not sure if this is old news.

I noticed today when connecting the blower to the motor (iphone 6 plus via lightning) that there was a big spotify & bmw logo on the phone,

Then I noticed that there were some nice improvements to the interface on idrive - you can see the album art and it finally changes, you can browse playlists, download music I think, spotify radio etc. However its a shame you can't still see the next track via the instrument panel but you can change it. Also you still have to launch the app otherwise it defaults to itunes music and it can't run in the background now.

It also had a link to my amazon streaming app on the idrive. I am not sure if this is an OTA update to idrive or an update to the app. I would imagine it must be a BMW update as the i-drive menu changed. I checked http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html and there is no update for me since the spring.

Is this iPhone 6 specific as I dont seem to have the logo and menu option with iPhone 5 connected by lightning cable ?

I'm on V 2.4.0 of the BMW Connected app which seems to be the latest version ?

It works on iPhone 5 too! A great update so I can use my Spotify in my BMW. Now let's get it to work the same without plugging it in.

I haven't updated anything and it now works in my car as described above - full control for browsing of playlists etc.

It doesn't use that, you need the latest spotify version

OK - Spotify updated itself on 12 November which explains things. Is the best sequence to open Spotify app on phone, plug in phone via USB, select external devices, and choose Spotify app on iDrive ?

It works great but if you switch off car and unplug phone when you start up again it doesn't seem to go back to where it was and I have to shut everything down and start the above sequence again - quite frustrating !
