320d M Sport versus ACS springed 335d M Sport

The first time since ACS springs were fitted to my car, I am driving another F30 today. I have a 320d M Sport sDrive manual loan car. It has really highlighted to me (again) just what a difference the springs have made. The 320d should handle better with 200kg less weight, but turn in is considerably less sharp and there is a good deal more weight shifting going on. The 335d with ACS springs is so much more composed, while still being a little more forgiving. The 320d has the MS+ pack with identical wheels and tyres to my car.

I have to say that the 320d is still a very impressive engine - it is absolutely no slouch, although the manual box doesn't do it any favours.

No doubt with new springs, or springs and dampers, the 320d could be vastly improved.

We have a 330d s-drive coming in tomorrow for our springs and dampers package. Should be an excellent combo.

Hi lorcan.

Cheeky question some time ago you posted a forum discount code for acs springs.

Is it still valid or has it expired. If valid any chance of having it please??

Looking to get some for 335 xdrive with adaptive.

Thanks in advance.

Merci, once HMRC have finished robbing my business I might be doing some shopping. Considered having them done pre-collection but I'd rather drive it for a little while as standard to fully appreciate the magic.

Having remapped my last two cars I'm not reading Tengo's DMS thread!

That said, the turbo going pop on the last motor helps too. Unfortunately Audi replaced it under warranty despite a) my having voided it by having the ECU reprogrammed & b) the car being 56k over the warranty limit.

This is not the kind of experience one learns the correct lessons from

Yes, a few years ago I put one of those cheap tuning boxes on a Vectra V6 diesel I had at the time. I few months later the fuel pump went pop but was fortunately replaced under warranty. Rather pleased not having to pay out a £3K repair bill.

Not saying all cars are like this, but after that experience, I dont fancy after market tuning.

I don't know if he is a member here but he's certainly been here for a read. He's on Pistonheads.

Smashy's review from Pistonheads, 330d SE with sports suspension (springs and dampers):

Quote:
Well OP here ,got my ACS sports suspension today.

Where do I start? On the run up from London to Rossiters early morning as luck would have it sat nav took me to an odd sounding area called Prick willow ,this was miles of straight roads but very undulating. My partner was with me and the floaty bouncy ride was nuts even she couldn't believe it ,an easy 60mph was impossible so backed off to 50. Ian an Ex BMW master tech did the job and said there were no issues with my standard set up ,its just the way it is.

So heading back instead of going straight back down the A10 I found these long straight back roads again the perfect test.
Tell you I nearly cried lol.....its now the way a BMW should behave , put foot down and just planted itself ,fantastic.Going round corners is now on rails, braking heavily just stays straight ahead instead of falling forwards.

I'm ecstatic ,I can now push on when driving.

I don't care what anyone says that SE set up is flawed.

,,,,and thanks to Lorcan and Ian ,I can really enjoy the cars potential.,,and of course AC schnitzer.

Big advantage of getting them pre delivery is that you can haggle fitment into the deal. Getting mine fitted for free.

Sytners in Oldbury. Apparently they have done a few. Offered to get the springs for me but wanted considerably more than getting them from yourself !!!

I called in there last month. Just passing.

"No-one ever asks for AC Schnitzer" said the parts guy

An enterprising chap was on the phone today too, after persuading Stratstone in Leeds to fit a set for him.

Keep up the good work chaps
