What would happen if......
You press the engine start stop button whilst driving?
I'm imagining there is a safety mechanism in place which would prevent it doing anything above a certain speed or in D, but I've always been curious. Nearly hit it by accident while switching off ASS and got me curious. |

this has been asked and answered numerous times.
nothing will happen. I believe you have to press it twice or three times for it to actually shut off

You need to hold the start button down for a few secs for the engine to turn off while moving.
And I've taken the keys out of the car loads of times while the engine is running (idling) and nothing happens. |

I fudged a gearbox on a courtesy E320cdi once by chucking it into P at about 20mph. wheels locked, car slowed to a halt and before it even stopped I heard a clicking noise then a thud. I told europcar I had no idea what had happened to it and that I thought brand new Mercs were meant to be solid. they sent me another one within the hour! |
