boot keeps on opening!
its not even like I wear tight clothes but a few times now I have gone outside and discovered my boot wide open,
the problem is that you don't have to press it long and then it opens but when you want to close it you have to hold the button for ages... anyone else have this problem? how would I fix it ? |

I have the key cover, which stops accidental presses

Got it with the car, they should be free.
However they key case thing is really good and saves inadvertent presses. Earlier in year were some people inadvertently opening the boot while in traffic (stationary). Not great and dangerous if dog in back. |

This is odd.
I don't think it's key presses but a glitch somewhere in the system, there's a thread on Pistonheads about the boot on an F31 being open when people have returned to their cars. I went outside this evening to be greeted by my tailgate to be wide open! Its happened to me once before when I was in the car cleaning it, the tailgate opened, I brushed that one away but tonight's episode I am sure I didn't press the key, maybe... http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/view...p?f=1&t=156194 |

Another advantage of the key holder is that you can buy different coloured ones. I have a blue and the wife has a red one!

That key case didn't come with my car and I did ask them for some free stuff, They were not willing to give me any free stuff because I got my car stupidly cheap in the first place. I ordered the blue one to match the key makes me such a tart eh |

After reading this thread, i was previously aware that my boot lid was opening up now & again. Obviously the key fob pressed when in pocket. Opened up once when on the road.
Decided to get the leather fob cover at local dealer today. A bit more expensive than ebay at £33 though. Saves waiting on delivery. See if it makes any difference. Here's hoping |

Have heard the key cover is a bit of a big beast. Any comments or feedback on that ?? |

it does make the key a bit more bulky also a bit more fiddly if you are carrying multiple items to blip the doors open, but theres no way you can press a button with it inside the cover.

The key pretty much fills the cover so not much extra bulk. It is there though. |
