PSI for 225/45R17 Blizzaks?

I ordered a wheel/tire setup from tirerack for about $1400 shipped after the local BMW dealer quoted me 1800 Euro for a winter setup. Went with the Bridgestone Blizzak LM-32XL's. They are: 225/45R17 94V (150 mph rated).

Now, my question pertains to the proper PSI for these tires. They came all at about 35 PSI. After consulting the owner's manual I decided to put them at the recommended 32F/38R PSI for speeds up to 100 mph (keeping it slow while I break the tires in).

Was that the right thing to do? My reading of the manual suggests that these tires (again, 4x 225/45R17) should be at the following PSI:

32F/38R PSI for speeds up to 100 mph
36F/41R for speeds over 100 mph

These are the first winter tires I have EVER owned or used (always had all seasons in the U.S., Mid-Atlantic). They dramatically changed the way driving the car feels. The car seems to need more gas/revs/pedal to accelerate and decelerates extremely quickly. It kind of feels sluggish, like it wants to stop. And if I do force my way through it and give it some gas it feels like the tires are slipping (rear) and I think I even heard them slipping when I had the window down during a corner. Any advice on all that?

BTW, the wheels I went with at these:

I think they look pretty good. Will add a pic of them on the car tomorrow.

Oh yea, also, the proper torque for lugnuts on M235i wheels is 88.5 foot pounds, yes? My searches found that to be the standard BMW torque.

Currently using approximately 38 PSI front and 41 PSI rear which feels considerably better than lower PSI's did.

The lower PSI will give you a softer ride.

Maybe the other feelings you're experiencing are due to the increased grip from the winter tires at lower temperatures. What were you running previously? A/S or the Michelin PSS?

BTW, they have performed very well in the snow and slush so far. No problems. Been in the snow, slush, cold rain, several inches of snow etc.

I was kind of wondering the same thing about the tire pressure. What is the difference between the vehicle with or without "high-speed tuning feature"?
