Since the standard wheel selection for M235 kinda sucks...

I was wondering if any of you have put third party wheels on and what did you do with your stock wheels? BMW probably doesn't do "trade-ins" they will be selling you the stock wheels no matter what I assume.

Your dealer will generally let you upgrade to any BMW performance wheels that are available. Some dealers will potentially sell you aftermarket rims, but all they are going to do is buy them and add a markup to them.

Like most people, if you want new rims just buy them online, and then you can sell your old ones or stick them in the garage for whenever you decide to sell the car. Plenty of people will want to buy a set of OEM rims to replace a damaged set of wheels or use for snow tires.

Cliffnotes: Dealer will rip you off. Do-it-yourself

Search on the forums for wheels, a lot of vendors will offer you pretty great deals, you just have to PM them to get the non-advertised price. Also, search some of the 2addicts sister forums, like e90post. They are a little more well established and probably have more vendors.

Agreed that the wheel options are not so great.

It's pretty common to find new owners going with aftermarket wheels and then selling or keeping their OE wheels for winter.

I've had some customers contact me attempting to have their dealership purchase VMR Wheels and have it a part of the lease, however, I assume it's MUCH easier to just shop for new wheels at a later date.
