MY2006 330i On Order

According to my dealer, my Sparkling Graphite 330i will be at my dealer mid-May. I've got my production number and now anxiously awaiting my new ride.

Does anyone know whether we can purchase the OEM light kit (just the front headlamp plastic) from Europe? I really dislike the orange/amber edge-line on the US 330i, and would like to replace it if at all possible.

I did this on my e46 back in 2001 and it looked much better than with the orange lamp covers.

So technically, i should be able to get the lights, but since the e90 is so new it might cost a pretty penny.

2006 330i
Sparkling Graphite Metallic, Black Leather, Aluminum Trim
Premium, Climate, Sports Package
Navigation, Satellite Radio, Alarm

Congratulations on your purchase! I think this was mentioned in another thread also - about asking the dealer to give you Euro spec headlights. Maybe these guys know something more about this. If it's possible, I'd like to do it to. Can't stand the amber reflectors.

I'm guessing i'll be paying pretty close to MSRP. I usually get no more than $1,000 off, but the last time i got the e46, i had to pay sticker since it was brand new in 1998 and no one had one for miles.

I haven't signed any paperwork yet, i've just ordered one which is scheduled for production in April, so I will definitely try to talk them down when it gets here. However, they could very easily sell it if i don't agree to MSRP pricing, so i'll cross my fingers and let you folks know. Given that I am a repeat customer and this is my 4th BMW (since i consider a mini a BMW as well), they may cut me some slack this time, but maybe not.

No news on the clear lens yet, no one seems to have ordering info just yet.

Hey, congrats on your order of the 330i! I just ordered a 325i and I'm really excited. That sucks, though, that you really weren't able to sign anything and actually make a deal. I think I was really lucky that I got an awesome deal, and where I live, the demand for them isn't really that high. I think they were just happy to sell a car, and I was just happy to be able to get a good deal and buy it. I know though in other parts of the country, there is like a waiting line because these new 3 series have sparked so much interest, and there isn't a whole lot of room to negotiate, especially when there is a waiting list of people willing to pay full MSRP. Good luck with the deal. If everything works out and you get it, make sure you post some pics!

PA is a good place to get cars. Seems to be lots of stock and the car dealerships don't seem to be a dog-eat-dog environment like you have in other northeast states.

Yeah, i've bought at dealerships in both Indiana and Illinois and have had the same problem when i try to get what i want. I've never bought one off the lot yet, i've ordered my e46, X5, Mini Cooper and my E90, so unfortunately i don't have the luxury of bargaining my way through.

Lot cars are much easier to negotiate, from what i've seen with my friends.

ncoutinho and bmwaustin: both your car's production schedule is perfect timing. I'd be pissed to have my car arrive before the dealer can release it to be, knowing that the car is just sitting there on some lot just because BMW set a date for retail release.

I waited to see which color looks good except TS, I could have ordered one long time back without test driving nor knowing what color will be offered.

Looks like you picked a good color - seems to be the house favorite here. It does look awesome in the NY auto show pics.

Seems like the release dates in South Africa are similar to that of the US. Apparenly BMW 'launches' E90 around May 12th and a week or 2 later they cars hit the dealer floors. I am getting the very first 330 that my dealer is receiving. Some interesting info ... did you guys know that the BMW plant in Pretoria (South Africa) also supplies US with their 3 series BM's

Very first 330?? Congrats!

I didn't know that about the US E90's, are they all being made in Pretoria plant?

My saleslady told me when they went for training on the E90 the Pretoria plant was pumping out left hand drive E90's .... so we assume they're manufacturing for the US as well - and seeing as that the release dates in SA and the US are very similar it sort of makes sense. I'f i'm wrong pls correct me then bash me over my head with a blunt object

flyboy: my original understanding was that they only built 325i's in S. Africa but after reading about your 330 being built there, i dunno. The other e90 plants are in Leipzig, Munich and Regensburg.

Here's pics of the very first e90 built at Leipzig. Wonder which lucky person got this

About the south africa question...I don't know. I placed my order and I got my car's vin number from the owner's circle web site. I placed the order for a 2006 325i and I decoded the VIN number. The first character is "W" meaning it was manufactured in Germany. I suppose that means that it was built there, unless it just means it is a German car. On the VIN decode site, there was no character for South Africa.

Some US 325s will be sourced from SA according to BMW NA. Though the cars from SA won't be arriving here until sometime in June. All 330s sold in the US will be built in Germany.

Gotta be SG. Probably just highly highly waxed so it looks like gunmetal.

Getting back to the subject on Clear headlight corners, I inquired at the dealership where I order my 330i and her said the dealership will not be able to due to US standards. He informed me I can aquire them from Aftermarket dealers.
