Winter tires question
Hey guys, winter is coming up and its time to look for winter tires!
My question is, is it possible/safe to run 225/40/18 winter tires all around with the OEM staggered wheels? I'm looking to get new wheels in the summer and use the OEM wheels for winter, so I don't want to have 3 sets of wheels/tires sitting around. Thanks! Edit: Forgot to add, I'm looking at the Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 92H XL or LM32 92V XL. Any other tires you guys would recommend?

I asked tired rack and they said it will fit. There are a few other people on here that have 225/40 on all 4s with staggered wheels. This is what I'm planning on doing for my winter setup

I only go there after I've exhausted all other options.

You shouldn't run into any issues with that setup

I debated the square setup but ended up with the LMs 225/40 front and 235/40 rear from tire rack.
The diameter is similar to stock and I'll be able to easily tell where each wheel goes. |

I got this same setup. I'm using the original wheels for winter tires and just wanted wider rear tires because wheels are wider. Also it is easier to see which wheels go to front and which ones to rear. I did not take 245s because the minimum profile for studded tires is 40 and 245/40 would be too big on my opinion.

Anyone able to tell me if these would fit?
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/4707018263.html 17x8 with +47 offset and 5x120 bolt pattern Front tires are 225/45/17 and rears are 245/40/17. Pretty good deal locally, I think, but is 245/40 staggered okay?

Bridgestone Blizzak LM32 tires seems to be a good choice. Just don't put them on too early as they wear very quickly. I normally wait for the first announce snow fall is coming before I swap out the tires.

Anyone know if these wheels will clear the brake calipers? Even if I have 12mm spacers on the rears?

On my PSS's the car will lay out drifts turning into a street with any power just from being cold in the garage(10C) ... They definitely are 0 use below freezing and even less if there is any ammount of snow or slush.

This was the experience of a friend on RE-11s on his 335i. Guess I will keep my eyes open for an off-set of wheels with some all seasons or winter tires just in case.
