Dynojet Dyno with V2 12/24
V2 (94%), K&N filter, Step, sport package, 93 octane, Temp 55F, 56% humidity, Pretty close to sea level.
Numbers are quite dissapointing. We did everything right. 4th gear, traction fully off, proper cool down. I believe this new map is highly detuned from the 12/19 map or something is definitely wrong with my car or the Dyno. It's the same Dyno Mr. 5 uses. It's also the same one Edmunds used to Dyno Shivs car last year. I looked at Mr.5's recent Dyno numbers (12/15) and they were similar to mine but his Boost was only around 11psi. Mine made pretty much the same numbers with 3psi more. Somethings not right.... I also got a nice snapshot of either a JB2 or TT car that dynoed right before me and got some pretty low numbers too. (Same day, same dyno settings) The tech Mark did mention that he's not too familiar with adjusting some setting for an Auto. Should that even mater? Oh Well, I guess I'm going back to the 12/19 map. I was able to achieve 14.8psi max boost with it. Last edited by bmwzimmer; 12-28-2007 at 09:28 PM.. Reason: Removed Names on Image |

At peak hp (~5800rpm), you're seeing approx 13psi of boost. 330whp is normal on anotherwise stock car at this boost level. The boost target on the 12-19 map is actually a bit lower than it is on the 12-24 map. So the difference you are seeing is intake temp induced. This is why you should dial in your boost settings on the road where you can simulate realistic intake temp/load conditions. You may or may not hit the same boost on the dyno simply due to intake temp conditions and the fact that you are doing a low to high rpm sweep (instead of a 5000rpm to redline shifts). I bet if it was a bit hotter or if you did a 3rd to 4th gear run on the dyno you'd see your 14.5-15psi and your 340whp.

They had 1 big fan blowing in the motor. I definitely 100% do feel a significant difference between this map and V1.47 so I couldn't believe the numbers when I saw it.

This is interesting.
Shiv and I are going to do some comparisons on this dyno as well with different tuners and maps. It's nice to see that Mark is getting some more business.

Yea, I wish he had a couple blowers instead of a big fan. When I dynoed yesturday, I removed the whole cabin filter to have easy access to the ecu compartment. This way, I could do my runs, then plug in the bypass plug to get a baseline. I covered up the two openings with tape so water can't get into it because there was a chance of rain yesturday. I also moved the air sensor clip from its normal location to somewhere closer to the engine/heat during the dyno and I don't know if it has anything to do with the results. Its my first time dynoing a car.

I agree. I recorded my coolant temps and IATs and they never exceeded 220 degrees F and 122 degrees F respectively. Seems that fan was more than adequate for me.
