Manual Air Conditioning Vs. Automatic Air Conditioning
Hey,
Right now I'm currently looking to 'customize' the interior of my E90 323i. I want to replace my current CD player portion of my car to an aftermarket 7" GPS unit. I've been looking for a couple of weeks now and it seem like all the units require an automatic air conditioning unit, but mines currently a manual air conditioning unit... I'm not sure why it would require an automatic ac unit. (i'll be posting the link to the GPS unit I am currently looking at) Does anyone know how to bypass this, if its possible to maybe convert the manual ac to automatic ac, or if they know any units that look similar, or even better, one that's pioneer and has car play (much preferred). Thanks! Ebay link - (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BMW-E90-E91-E...60c451&vxp=mtr) |

Go to a dealer/installer who does this for a living and tell them what you want, I'm sure there is something out there that will fit your application.

if you search again, there are many of the same systems available for manual ac controls as well.
I did a simple search and was able to find many. Here are some links: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Stereo-f...item4605af9f2b http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Din-Car-DV...c5b05f&vxp=mtr |

I have a 323i with manual climate controls also. Had a similar issue when looking for a bezel/plate for my pioneer double din.
My stereo installer ended up custom making my bezel by cutting the bottom half of a metro kit (meant for auto climate) and blending in the manual controls with the factory plate that surrounds it. You can see my previous posts for my audio build thread where I have pics of this. This approach will work with any double din unit. Mine is an older pioneer avic. Love it with the new functionality that I didn't have with the stock base system.

Thats true. I was hoping to get a unit with car-play and I think the Ebay ones don't have car-play, I guess Ebay ones are the best option right now.

I think you need to figure out what is most important to you, form or function.
Obviously both routes will give you similar features like GPS, Bluetooth (voice & audio), iPod integration, but there are a couple of distinguishing features of each, namely: eBay (forgot the specific brands) - cosmetics - integration with BMW climate/seat heater controls vs. Pioneer (or any other standard double din) - Carplay - potential audio quality - support

Also, just my 2 cents, I think the newer Dynavin units (and one other brand, starts with Eon or something?) tend to have the best reviews and functionality for this type of application. These brands also look OEM like the ones you've linked.

So I looked into the Dynavin units, and they look similar to the links i've posted, and they seem to offer a lot more. Probably going to end up going with this unit.
