Adding a sub and an amp

Hi All,

I have a JL Audio 10W7 and a soundstream amplifier that I had in my Cadillac that I cannot sell. I was thinking of putting it in the bmw.

My question is this, as far as factory integration goes, has anyone one this? In my G8 I had nothing but issues getting a good clean single until i upgraded to a digital amp (JL 750/1) to be exact. Finding a remote turn on isn't a problem, nor would be the power but, I am just wondering if anyone has done this in this car and what the results have been.

Thank you all in advance.

Unless you intend to run an aftermarket head unit, you need a high to low converter which isn't going to sound great.

I have a sub and amp in my 235i and it sounds fine. Makes up for the systems lack of bass. Amp is mounted to back of rear seat.

Not sure what kind of music you listen to, but I have never had a problem doing this to get a good signal for a subwoofer. My ears and music are not good enough to distinguish the difference in the bass notes.

I'm kind of an audiophile, so my opinion may not be relevant. However it's well known that the signal that reaches the speakers are, and should be, modified to better match what the speaker is capable of producing without damaging itself. To put it simply, by running a high to low converter, you are missing the filtered out part of the audio that the manufacturer is excluding. This is a lot less relevant for subwoofers @ < 250 hz, but it's a noticeable difference to the trained ear.

I picked up the integration harness from Technic. It worked perfectly, by far the easiest way to integrate an amp.
