And the shoes fit!!

Finally found a wheel that I really love! Was looking for something with decent concave and it seemed nothing was available for the M235, ended up stumbling across the Breyton GTS-R which have specific sizes for the 1 Series and fell in love!

They look so good in person, have more concave then I expected and are very light.

I did have to use a spacer on the front to clear the brakes but would have anyway for a more aggressive offset. Wheels are 18x7.5 ET45 front and 18x8.5 ET48 rear, perfect in my opinion (poke out 12mm in front and 10.7mm in rear compared to stock wheels).

Now I have to wait till Friday to get the other two since I only ordered 2 to test fit, damn!

Front

Rear

I'm going to paint the red stripe a matte grey to match the wheel as I've seen others do because unfortunately the wheel was not available without the stripe.

Rear has plenty of clearance at the brake caliper and at the rear shock, could easily fit some pretty fat tires back there (measured 26.48mm between rim and shock dust cover)

Front needed a 12mm spacer but then cleared the brakes easily (by 6.26mm, stock is 5.25mm) and the front strut has plenty of space.

The red stripe is actually in a recessed channel so should be pretty easy to paint clean.

Dig the look, will those take a BMW center cap? One idea on the red, you may have a tough time matching the wheel finish. Could try this if you are thinking about different colors before you go ahead and do it.

They will take a BMW center cap which is what I'm going to use.

That's an idea for the strip but I don't know how much it would stick out. I'm hoping to find a flat enamel that will be close enough, a slight different probably won't be noticeable, especially given the wheels have some degree of brake dust on them all the time.

One other idea, blue might be nice. They make that blue painters tape in very narrow widths could be about right size to just see if you like it.

The red looks suprisingly good actually and goes well with the Mineral Grey paint, but I don't like things that look aftermarket on my cars, I prefer OEM or OEM-look...the stripe makes them look aftermarket and a bit juvenile too I think.

Agreed completely wasn't sure if you hated the red or didn't want any color there. I'd do exactly what you're planning if they were mine was just throwing some other ideas out there.

You could try a color that is just a little off the wheel color, but not too much. I'd be curious how a black stripe might look. I've seen some MG M235i's that are all decked out in grey and black with medium tint that look amazing. The black wouldn't contrast too much with the wheel, subtle.

I agree that the red does a have a bit of a boy-racer look, which sounds like it is not what you are after. Just a thought.

That's actually what someone over on the 1 Series forum did...didn't have a very steady hand though.

Awesome, congrats. I figured they would fit

I don't like the red stripe either, other than that, it's a sweet looking wheel

The black does look much better though, just find someone with a steady hand lol

I realize looks is a personal thing, but I do like the look.

If you did go that route, I'm sure you could get a cleaner implementation. Maybe ala BEM suggestion there is a "tape" option, not unlike the appliques Bimman sells for the front grille, that could be applied down in the groove. Alternatively perhaps some kind of tip could be crafted that fits the groove so color could be added more deliberately.

I'm thinking something like this is hopefully close enough, it has to be a non-shiny, non-metallic paint otherwise I think it would stand out against the matte finish of the wheels.

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/...-paint-356220/

I'm thinking they should also have some sort of foam applicator or something that's a close match to the size of the grove at Hobby Lobby or Michael's.

The whole wheel? Not a big fan of black wheels, which sucks, because TireRack sells this wheel in a black finish without the stripe.

As for plastidipping just the groove, that would probably be really really hard.

There is such a thing as a pinstripe roller used specifically for wheels. Might be worth looking into although spokes are going to be an issue.

Bam! There is it. Picked up some flat gray and gunmetal enamel (mixed the two as the gray was too light and the gunmetal too dark) at Hobby Lobby and a round tip extra stiff paint brush and went to work. Did a couple of coats and came out good, depending on the lighting, sometimes it's more noticeable than other but looks a ton better than the red stripe to me.

I wouldn't wait, I would get the drivers side mounted and try to not look at the passengers side of the car
