removing tar spots?

what's the easiest way to remove tar spots from the paint? i've read that there are some products designed specifically for such use but that they'll damage the paint? white car so the spots are really obvious

I am ordering Groits Bug and Smudge Remover to use for this purpose. I called them yesterday and they said it works pretty well on tar.

If it's from driving through construction sometimes the township will pay to have it fixed depending on how bad it is, worth checking if that's how it happened.

it's nothing terrible, just irritates me when i'm washing the car...was hoping that there was some kind of solution that didn't involve having to re-wax every time after use (as my googling has suggested is necessary)...

You can spot polish and wax - after hitting the tar with a dedicated tar remover.
Isopropyl Alcohol is good for tar spots but on new paint or in the wrong concentration - may be too harsh.
I Had some cosmoline & tar spots and Lucas Slick Mist Spray Wax took the spots out after a wash.
So try the mildest product first with the gentlest touch ( no heavy pressure ) and you may find regular polish or wax does the job.

I don't know if this will help but I have been using goo-gone for many years on tar stains. It works very well.

I'd spot wax afterwards, regardless of product you choose. If it's taking tar off it's gotta be taking the wax off too.

Waxing in general if you're pressed for time hit the hood and the trunk. Those areas take the most abuse and on our cars you're looking at 10 mins max.

BEM-s4 is correct...once you use a "tar removal" product, your wax in those areas are past tense. Clean off the removal residues...as these prods are "oil" based to cut oil and tar.

Once surface is cleaned--wax away.
