335i sedan with brake pedal pulastion
While driving my 2011 335i sedan hard in the mountains last week, I noticed brake pedal pulsation. My car has the sport package (bigger brakes). A couple of days later, my wife noticed the brakes pulling the car left and then right at highway speeds. Anyone else had this problem? The car has 49,500 miles on it now and will be going out of warranty very shortly. The pads and disks are all OEM, and have never been replaced. The dealer keeps on saying they are "fine". I guess my opinion may vary.

You may have warped or excessive pad deposits on your front rotors, at least that is what brake pedal pulsation with what sounds like steering wheel shimmy are tell tale signs of.
If its excessive pad deposits you can scrape them off by working the brakes hard (there's a procedure on this, but pretty simple), but if they're warped its time for full replacements. You can check for either by having runout on the rotors checked, if its excessive then the dealer should be more compelled to replace what's needed |

Disks are not warped when cold
My disks are not warped when cold. I complained about pedal pulsation during my warranty service at 49600 miles. The dealer checked out the brakes with extensive driving and could not find a problem. The car still has the original pads and disks (which I was hoping to get replaced under warranty) Dealer says no dice. To be fair, I did get a look at the rear pads at 49000 miles and they looked good.
I do not like the brake pedal kickback I get during hard driving, and will probably end up replacing all four disks and pads with aftermarket stuff. Anyone care to recommend an aftermarket disk and pad combination for 99% street driving? |
