M235i cornering lights

So they are duds by default, unless I am missing something.

Reflectors have been mandated for a long time in the US. Lights the corners up at night.

I know some are dead against them, but personally I want as much reflection back to anyone near me as possible. Especially when parked in a lot or street and my lights are OFF.

Those little babies pick up someone's light who wish to turn into my car territory and say at least, something to drivers otherwise pre-occupied.

Flames welcome I guess, but I like the protection, and personally don't find them offensive as some do by preferences.

+1. I have no plans to get painted reflectors.

Left mine on too. Did turn off the amber lights in the headlights though through coding.

+1 here as well. There was clear data at NHTSA supporting the benefit of this feature via the reduction of nighttime side impacts on an equipped fleet.

Wtf does cornering lights have to do with side reflectors?

Cornering lights are the very wide angle lights on the edge if the cluster that activate when you turn the wheel sharply so you can see around corners.

Now back the OP, wtf are you talking about. If you want to start a thread on something EXPLAIN.

I thought cornering lights were fog lights. But called cornering lights when you turn your wheel to the left or right and they illuminate.

Perhaps that's the case. No fogs on the M though.

Cornering lights are the inner lights found on an E9x equipped with Xenon's for example. They lit up when you are turning, providing more illumination on the side you are turning into. Both of them are lit when you are reversing.
I found that there are no bulbs in the inner circles of the headlights on my M235i, and got curious what's the reason for that - cost cutting or some other function.

This is exactly why I loved the black reflectors (not painted) offered for the e9x, on my black car.

Yes, it is kind of weird. BMWs are known for their 4 headlamps, but with the inner 2 lamps being dummies, it sort of takes away from that a little bit, IMO.
