aFe Momentum Cold Air Intake vs aFe Magnum FORCE intake?

Anyone have experience with either of these intakes? The Momentum is quite a bit more expensive ($419 vs $322 at Amazon), it it worth it? I'm curious to try one of them out...still a bit wary of CEL and/or rough idle but with Amazon, should be easy to return if not satisfied.

FWIW, the Momentum dyno chart looks quite a bit better than the Magnum FORCE as does the measured flow. (though just doing an intake ins't really known to give any real power gains so not sure how credible these charts are anyway).

I have the Momentum Cold Air Intake on my car the first month of ownership. Can hear the blow-off valve open during higher rpm shifts. No problems or issues as some others have reported. I like that the cone is mostly enclosed to help reduce engine heat soak.

It's a great intake . Although it's just a tad hotter as reported by the IAT gauge, the pro in returns considerably outweighs that part .

Looking how Dinan designs the intakes for the F30 cars I believe the aFe design is fairly close. Granted you won't be paying for a Carbon Fiber cover but flow amount should be the same. Going to Dinan Stage 2 with the aFe should work just as well as the Dinan intake and be $1000 cheaper too!

Dinan stage 2? Where did you get that info? I only see stage 1 on their page. Also, does the Momentum CAI trigger any codes? maybe CEL? Will I need JB4 to get rid of those?

The aFe doesn't give a CEL. Been running it for over 3 months now and no lights to deal with. The Dinan Stage 2 is still in development while Dinan gets their new Carbon Fiber Intake ready for sale. Stage 2 will be asking for an intake and performance exhaust to get the full power from it.

If you want a good deal on a JB4, please PM as I'm selling mine (less than 4 months old with 1600 miles on it).

I have the momentum afe intake

No cel
No rough idle at any time
A lot more noisy than stock

If you look at the pic of the momentum intake it has some breathers on top and also a connection to the oem snorkel to pull air from the outside... I sealed the breathers and the noise came down dramatically which I like and possibly intake temps....

Man I would love to see AFE make a non branded Momentum intake for us CA residence looking to go stealth and not raise flags with law enforcement.......that just starts the conversation of "Did you delete your cat?" :-(

Basically you're happy that you didn't get the Magnum Force intake due to the "noise" level?

How did you seal the holes? And thanks for info, I think I'm going to grab one. Was worried about fault lights. I've installed short ram intakes before, and generally intakes are all easy, maybe 25 minute install, is this the same?

Compare to my WRX and the inside fender well install these are a piece of cake. Nothing tricky and everything in right in front of you. Converting back stock should be straight forward as well if you need too.

Any performance gains noticed with the MOMENTUM installed? I am torn between these two intakes.

-One has better dyno graphs and lower intake temps
-Other makes more turbo noises and cost less.

If any noticeable performance gains are noticed I will probably go with the Momentum.

Bumping an old thread.

Any more experiences with this intake? Thinking of getting the momentum.

I've had the Magnum for a year now. Zero issues or cel's and geat sound. It's all for sound but I got the jb4 and DP for hp gains.

Which one makes more turbo noise? And is the sound increase very noticeable?

They both make your turbo noise, sound was very noticeable from stock after install.

I read today about the AFE power magnum resting on a coolant line burning the hose. Has this issue been addressed? Can anyone verify if this is happening?
