Rear automatic sun blind question
as some may know I just got a new 335i about a week ago and love it but im having some dificulties with the rear sun blind. It tends to work whenever it wants. Well here the thing it was working fine a few days ago and then all of sudden stopped after I held the button for a few seconds longer. Then yesterday just playing with the button I was doing different hold and press techniques hoping to get it to work and to m surprise it did and worked for the rest of the day. Well come this morning I go to press it once more and it doesn work again. I hear the usual ticking in the back but nothing. So again I tried playing with the button again but no luck. Is any one else having this same situation or know if there is a strategy behind the button and how to press it to activate it or something? This is really starting to get aggrevating. Thank you in advance.

I already went to the dealer and they said that I would have to make an appointment to get it check out cause they might have to take apart the whole unit. What I don't get is how I managed to get it to work after a series of pusjing the button in certain ways. Im pretty sure that there is a way to get it to work with pressing the button. I was just wondering if anyone knew of anything.

Sounds like it could be an electronics issue.
I had a similar problem with my sunroof years ago. I tried to close it with one touch but, it got to the end, closed, then opened back up about 4 inches or so. Turns out it needed a new "cassette" an electronic box that operates it somewhere inside the cabin. Could be the same with the blinds.... |

Should work mate, no fancy way of pressing an on/off switch. Get it into the dealers.

Not sure if this will help, but I seem to remember someone else having issues with theirs, and it had somethign to do with a temperature sensor. cant remember all the details, you might want to search for that thread on here and bimmerfest.
good luck

I have to use a very complex "push in" technique, where I use one of my fingers, usually my pointer, to sort of press the little button towards the front of the car. I have to do this when I raise or lower the blind. It takes practice, you don't want to press the spot to the left, or right, or below or even above the button. Has to actually move the button in.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't work, it might be that the switch is broken and needs replacing. |

I have a problem with mine in the summer if I leave the trunk exposed to the sun all day it seems to have a temperature sensor that keeps it from working. The next morning it is fine. I have not had time to take it in to get it fixed. Let us know what you find out.

I don't believe for one second there is a temperature sensor that disables that stupid sunshade when it's too hot. I remember reading that thread and I'm sure the service advisor was just lying through his nostrils to get that person off their back.
Mine works just fine, always goes up or down. I have a bet with my friends on when it will break though, as it seems like something that is very likely to break... Hope yours gets fixed though.

Make the appointment and get it fixed. Sounds more like a problem in the shade mechanism itself, if you are hearing the sound and it's not working. Could be a plastic gear has broken or is intermittently catching, etc.
BTW - how often do you use the thing?? Sounds like a lot. I leave mine up all summer and down all winter (unless some dipshit in a truck behind me has his brights on).
