M Performance Exhaust muffler power gains? Plus question on sound.

Are there any power gains to be expected from just changing out the stock M235i muffler to the M Performance version? Anyone every seen a dyno of one vs the other (maybe on other BMW cars?).

Also, with the "fake" engine/exhaust sound coming from the speakers in this car, does the sound (in the car, windows up) change at all with the M Performance exhaust or is it pretty isolated to the exterior and the inside sounds the same?

Blah. Then I guess I'll pass. I rarely ever drive with the windows down (did some test runs and prefer the sound with the windows up...with the wind noise and such, you barely hear the engine/exhaust anyway).

you can definately tell the sound difference once its broken in, and actually have a slight drone to it. i find it pretty satisfying at that sound level since im coming out of s2000 with loud exhausts..

So it drones worse than the stock exhaust in Sport mode? Or does it now sound like that but in Comfort?

I disagree. I thought it had no drone at all. I even have a muffler delete right now and it still doesn't have any drone...

Since this thread was resurrected here. Same question I've been trying to figure out, not a whole lot of information I could find anywhere or my search game is lacking. I know the gains arent great with Dinan as a claimed 6hp, but one would think you would get something out of the MPE right? Anyone actually know of or seen a dyno on this?

6hp is not considered as gains since it is within the dyno's margin of error

No gains with the exhaust, only downpipes

If you are looking for a cheap upgrade and only care about sound you could code it to sound like an m3. I have not done this, but have heard of others who have.

another question on sound

i also have the MPE, sound is only coming up from one tip (the right one) at all times and the first times i floor it a whistling (not the turbo) occurs in first gear at 4000rpm+ and second gear, it is kind of annoying but once the car is warmed up it goes away.
is it normal?? what can i do to stop the whistle

Sorry but in my opinion an M235i with the MPE actually sounds much better than an M3/4
