Break in

I decided to take opinion about the best break in way , just got my f30 320i and the manuel says i should keep it under 4500 rpm and 160 km/hr for the first 2000 km . Which i think is a bit too much . While other people say the best is to break in hard , what do you guys think ?

There's a couple of options:

The quick and dirty is a simple hammer. You'll want at least a 16oz head; better yet, a good 3 pound sledge will make quick work of the side windows.

Next up is your slim-jim. I'd suggest silkroad as a source; some good models there designed for modern cars.

Finally, if you're talented you may want to go the skimmer and clone route. This has the advantage of being quite stealthy, with no damage to the vehicle.

Hope that helps. Best of luck with your break in.

160 km/hr down the streets of Cairo maybe is a bit too much at first? I don't know what your actual driving environment is. But, I did 1200 US miles (kinda like 2k km?) as a break in, and I lived through it. I just spent a lot of time in the car driving, because it's fun, and I like going a bit fast on slow roads.

I agree driving is fun but driving fast is more fun . Some streets in cairo you can reach 160 easily if you are a good driver . It depends on what risks are you willing to take .

One post & out. For a DD read the manual & follow it. Its not just the motor you are breaking-in but the whole power train.

If I build or re-build a race a motor its broken in quickly.
