Michelin Pilot-Sport-Cup-2

Has anyone ever used these tires? I am looking for a good track day tire that I can drive to the track on.

I'm going to get a set of this tires for my future m3)
The porsche guy like this tires but they are not faster than the previous cuo tires. This tires are good for DD + track day if you want to have just one set of tires, like me)
The stock PSS I will use for the rainy track days.

It only comes in a 265/35/19. Can that be used on the front instead of a 255/35/19?

Does the 265/35/19 fit the front wheels?

MPSC2 are really good tires if you know how to use them. They are very precise, don't need huge amount of camber, although still more than what the F8x offers in stock form, they wear OK.

The downsides? First, they are expensive, very difficult to keep them at proper temp (and without temp in them, they are not very grippy), they are also quite bad under rain both due to lack of temp and deep enough threads. The newer MPCS2 N-spec tires have significantly more thread depth, but they only come in Porsche sizes.

IMHO, the better track day tires you can use on the street are either Nitto NT-01 or Toyo R888. Both are terrible under rain, as bad as MPSCs, cheap, durable and grip quite well. NT01s have noticeably more grip as they wear and the best grip is actually when they are almost gone to cords.

There are couple of more that may be worth trying if you are experimental: Dunlop Sport Maxx Race, and ContiForceContact. I haven't used them, but haven't heard enough good things to try the Dunlops; and although I am hearing good stuff on the Contis, they are just too new to really know.

Probably the best performing tire out there right now is the Pirelli Trofeo R, but they don't have sizes for F8x, they wear super fast (one to two weekends, depending on driving), and they need a lot of negative camber.

So, my choice will most likely be R888s, there aren't 19" NT-01s. Btw, 265 will fit on 9" without issues.

If you really want good tire advice, choice and help, contact Paul at Radial Tire at Silver Spring.

I ran these on my 2011 1M yesterday at the autocross. I found them imprecise with poor tunr-in, but very balanced and grippy. They also add a tremendous amount of stability to the car, inspiring lots of confidence in high speed sweepers, which is something the 1M can use. Much better than the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race which I've also run, faster than streetable track tires with similar wear such as the RS-3. Quite different in behavior than most other tires such as the R888, pluses and minuses. More thoughts here:

Is you suspension OEM or aftermarket? Camber? Is your wheel width ideal for tire width?

Stock 1M suspension except for camber plates. 2.5 degrees camber front, 2.0 degrees rear. Ideal rim width: 245/35 19 on 19 x 9 front, 265/35 19 on 19 x 10 rear.

I dialed in some front toe out today, we'll see if that helps turn in.
