I have the Alpina flash on my N54 xi. The flash has been done on N55's so I see no reason why it wouldn't work on a N55 x-drive.

Did it on my N54 Xdrive and love it. The drive is low rpm early shifts which I love around town, and on the highway in sport mode it shift faster and harder. The downshifts, oh man the downshifts.

Alex@Alpine did mine remotely. I supplied a cable that connects a computer to the OBD2 port and then he did everything else. It doesn't take long to do at all.
He's done a bunch of them for the N54 guys so you could ask him if he does it for N55's too.

i have a e90 n55. Niv at bmcoding.com or bmcoding did mine locally, does remotely, too.
for other power mods, get yourself a proper tune. the JB4 maps you're running are the one-size-fits-all maps. ProTuningFreaks can do it remote, but i think they use COBB, and i'm not familiar at all with the JB4 method.

From what i heard , on N54 it shifts quicker, smoother the ride on S and M mode. On D mode, it going to drive like an old lady to save gas. But most always drive in S or M , i think it worth the try. Beside, it just a flash, so you can get it back to stock any time

In drive its like grandma's driving. If you have less than 50% throttle it will shift as soon as possible, it will be in 6th gear at around 45mph. I like it a lot in the city because its smooth, its trying to obtain the best mileage possible and it keeps the car quiet.
In sport mode its aggressive, revs are higher before the shift, and its much firmer and snappier to the shift. On full throttle it will drop gears fast and again very snappy, and will hold on full throttle to 7k before it snaps to the next gear. Only complaint I have is manual mode. The shifts are much firmer and faster (not the complaint) the complaint is the up/down shifts are still delayed because of the electronics there is a slight delay. Its not catastrophic by any means but its still there. I love it the Alpina coding and anyone in Tampa Id happily help get it going. |

That does sound great. I am not a fan of "D" mode, its is quite jumpy. When I am taking off red light/stop sign there is a slight delay and car takes off faster than I really want it to which makes me almost completely let of the gas. Where is the best place/way to obtain this for my car?

D mode is decent for highway and local driving. I am 95% in D mode because I don't abuse my car but I am FBO. When I do want to have some fun I put it in M mode and its simply awesome.
