XPEL alerted me that this product was the cause of my “PITTING” on my ppf! Due to the amount of “Pertroleum Distillates”.

That sucks, thanks for sharing. What are the next steps for you? A whole new ppf install?

Well…. I dont think XPEL is done with me yet. I’m waiting for a follow-up reply. They may do something for me as some of their questioning is leading to it.

From the pictures, it appears to be limited to a small area of the PPF? Why would the soap only be causing issues on this one small section?

I’m assuming it’s like that all over but the overhead light is making it easy to see that spot in the picture.

It’s covering the complete frontal.

XPEL agreed on putting towards the replacement but made it clear that it isn’t a Warranty replacement, just a Good Faith.

That would be crazy nice of them.

If it's getting replaced you might consider a test of sorts. spray the stuff onto a section, let it sit a bit, and then wipe it off and see what happens. Basically to confirm what you are thinking is happening. Next you might get Turtle Wax involved and let them know? Take some pictures or a video. You may have stumbled across something that's kind of a big deal and worth sharing? Not that you are looking for internet or Youtube fame...

It’s a fact that it happened, actually XPEL notes of using “Petroleum Distillates” (Carrier Solvents) on their ppf. The only thing that I find really disturbing is that both parties are not putting this on “Blast” to their customers. I will contact TW about the transparency though.

IIRC, Xpel's latest warranty only covers you if you use their brand of ceramic so you were very lucky that they made this a "Good Faith" type of replacement on your claim.

Well that's not good. I was under the impression that you should not put wax of any kind on ceramic coatings. It doesn't hurt it but you will not have the same hydrophobic properties. You'll still have some, but not as much. You best bet is to use a ph neutral soap then top it with a quick ceramic detailer. I personally use 3D pink in a foam cannon. Hope everything works out my man.

Yep, this was the exact advice I received from my installer after getting my E92 PPF'd and ceramic coated. I've been using Sonax Ceramic Spray Coating as a detailer and it works great. Sorry to OP that this happened, appreciate you letting us know about the issue.

If you have xpel ceramic they make their own booster spray. If you use that any issues are on them
