I hope that's not true. The exaggerated fender is one of the reasons I like the M3 over the M4 and one of the reasons the M5 is underwhelming to me. Aerodynamics and road rash be damned.

Agreed. The headlights are iconic on BMWs so making them smaller and less prominent will just fuck shit up. Putting it mildly.

Not so sure that the manual will be available, Frank ver Meel give an interview months ago saying that as long as costumers keep buying manual, they will keep making it, but every year, more and more costumers were buying automatics. Also, its going to be expensive to update and maintain the production of the Getrag DKG that the BMW M uses.
BMW X5M and X6M are using ZF8HP
BMW M5 F90 is using ZF8HP, very likely the next M8 will also have the same powertrain.
Most of the M Performance cars are also using this transmission.
So it's going to be much less complicated and expensive to put the ZF AWD with the next S58 engine!
Performance wise, the car will be much faster, with the AWD on/off will make us the enthusiast kinda happy and the car will not need any development at all! All the technology is already available!

those grills need to be 10 x bigger... like from street level to the top of power bulge. That's the only thing BMW is consistently signaling is that we are going to get more grill than we want.

I like the headlights and wheels. The rear end looks like it came from a Japanese designed car.

I'm hoping the rumors of RWD only is false. Launching the current M3/4 is already a challenge and going sideways is getting tiresome. I guess I'm getting too old, maybe an M5 will be my next car..

so to sum this up it doesn't tell you anything that anyone here could have literally guessed themselves. cool

Thanks for the compelling reco... it's now clear which car is next for me.

Any suggestions on colors?

Well that is one perk of going American.... you won't be limited to greyscale plus a funky blue or orangey - red like you would with a BMW

Headlights won't be that narrow. It looks cool, but base 3 models may have halogen or Xenon which won't fit in such a slim headlamp.

Personally I think the design language is too Audi like.
