You pre-emptively buy supplies ahead of time for oil changes, and by the time you remember you have them and its time to change the oil, you've sold\bought a new car, and now have a nice random collection of about 6-8 oil filters you have absolutely no use for.

I have 325 miles on the M2 so far and the Miata is sort of a pita but they are both fun in different ways. I have about $40K in the Miata so I haven't sold it but it will go away one day, the M2cs I plan to keep until gasoline is no longer available, the day it becomes worthless, lol.

This is a common perspective, however, after 25 years of being secretive and hiding the things that bring me some joy in life one begins to realize, it's not that fun if you can't share it with people around you all because youre worried about being perceived as a braggart.

If you really think about it, it takes a lot of work to NOT talk about what youre involved in with your life and in a way, strangers online are the best people to share it with, especially in a thread about the specific topic on a forum designed for talking about your hobby. The people you don't want to "brag" to are actually the people in your circle who more than likely just want to enjoy you as a person, not for your cars. Here, we are all just talking about cars.

If you have 80 cars that you enjoy then good for you. I am always happy for other people's success, however they may measure it. Just don't lie about your golf score and we are good.

I have owned a Miata and a 135i, so I can kind of relate....although the Miata basically only had suspension mods....so maybe not.

It's so difficult to answer that! Some of the cars I have had from the 80s were horrible garbage but at the time I was waxing them every weekend and loving them even more than I do some of the newer nicer ones today.

It's all about having fun. Usually the slower the car, the harder you can drive it which is always more fun than being delicate with 1000 hp!

For those of you with a ton of cars... are these typically used cars with little depreciation, or are you buying new cars every time? How are you justifying the bath you take with such frequent changing of cars, or is that just the cost of doing business that you've accepted?

Good stuff, everyone. Yeah, if you don't want to hear people talk about how many cars they have or throw some self-deprecating humor their own way over it, perhaps don't click on the lead that says "you know you have too many cars…."

I don't hold a candle to some of you guys but I'm definitely in the less than 3 years per car neighborhood, with 3 different cars in the first 7 months of 2020 alone. It's been a recurring fever for 20 years and I've finally just surrendered to the fact that it's a passion. I'll admit I sometimes scratch the itch through others….my wife's had a lot of new cars and my father is enjoying an E550.
