The e92 has a bit better steering feel, might rev ever so slightly faster, and has a better quality interior, but the GT350 is on another level of capability and experience. I feel that it is just a far more special car and experience while still being under the radar.

The suspension, chassis, brakes, transmission and torque are all miles better. Additionally, if you opt for the Recaro seats, the seats and driving position are also far better than the M3.

It takes corners at a faster pace with greater confidence. You do feel the additional weight, but only in certain instances and less than I imagined. That said, the car feels very well balanced. I am already signed up for a few track days and looking forward to experiencing it on track.

If you are contemplating a GT350, I highly recommend it.
I hear great things about the GT350. one of the best sounding V8s in my opinion. Enjoy.

Coworker bought a brand new gt350 two years ago, he's on his 4th engine. Oil consumption has been out of this world, about 2 Qts every 500 miles or so, on all 4 engines lol, has tried to get ford to buy it back but its been an uphill battle, other than that he loves it.

Only by today's standards. I think it's alI relative to the period competition.

A modern Toyota Camry will smoke most supercars from the 80's. It's doesn't make the Camry any more fun.

This is so true. I get my doors blown off regularly by sedate modern cars/vans/suvs when i drive my older cars. But only one of us have a huge grin on their mug.

Last year my buddy traded his F80 for a GT350. I finally got to see it a couple weekends ago. Sounded insane! Huge upgrade sound wise over the F80. Oh, yeah, it was fast too.

The e93 with no secondary cats, no resonators and Megan racing exhaust was fantastic too. Very different sounds as the e92 is higher pitched, while the GT350’s sound is hard to explain and almost angry sounding.

Thank you! I have a few track days at the end of the month, so I am looking forward to really putting it through its paces and having some fun with it.

That is terrible, I hope he gets it resolved soon. In my brief ownership I have seen that it does eat oil. I will be documenting just how much over the next month. Hopefully it isn’t anything serious and ends up being about the same consumption as the M.

It isn’t for what it is, however the lack of torque contributes to it feeling slow and just getting used to it during ownership.

I have a friend who did the exact opposite. Went 350 to M4. He says he is happy which is all that matters. Lol the sound is no question a huge improvement for your buddy though.

Not really. I wouldn't call it fast by todays' standard, but I wouldn't call it slow either. With a bit more torque from primary cat delete, I think the car is more than adequate. Yes, you have to work for it (i.e rev it out), but that's the whole idea of these older M cars.

Honestly, with a manual gearbox, I find it far more engaging than pretty much any current M cars out there. 9 years of owning the car, and I never thought it needs much more power than it has. It's just not the point.

When driven properly in upper rpm band, S65 puts a grin on your face like no other BMW can. It truly is one of BMW's best powerplants next to the S85.

I assume you mean the S65 in the E92: because it is.

Need to add a SC to keep up with the other engines in the E9X platform. If you like to track the car it is the better e9X engine.

I've been sitting here, cash in hand, for over a year now waiting for word on the C8 Z06. Latest news is that it's delayed until 2023 due to the fact that GM can't even make enough of the regular C8s to meet demand. At this point I'm sick of waiting for it and I was ready to move on. Here in Canada we have a new luxury tax coming into effect on January 1st that is 20% of the value of a new vehicle over 100k and that's a pretty big number. Not sure how appealing that Z06 is going to be with all that extra tax slapped on.

In desperation, I have tried to locate a Porsche Cayman GT4 allocation but I basically get laughed at at the dealerships. Most won't even return my emails. I've extended my search to other provinces even though that will subject my new car to additional sales taxes, which would still be preferable to the incoming luxury tax.

It's starting to look like I'll never be able to upgrade the m4, regardless of my desire and financial ability to do so.

At least you have the m4 to fall back on...better than the g8x gen and now that the new 2 series has been leaked...the m2 is going to be a disappointment as well.

This is exactly why I’ve now bought two X5 50i in a row. I’m going to savor that twin-turbo V8 insanity while I still can. 15 MPG be damned.

All new 2022 Jaguar F-Types will be V8. Great GT car with exotic styling. Had a 2017 "S" for 3 years before my current 240. Worth a look.

The GT350 has a nice engine and sound plus styling is cool. Rest of the car is very underwhelming. I had a chance to buy a few and every time i go and sit in one - I can’t pull the trigger lol. Panel gaps, interior quality, sitting position are just all bad.

The E92 M3 would be good but only if i can find the exact spec for me - Blue or White exterior, Comp Pack, Manual, CF roof, Black interior, low mileage. I think overtime this would be a car you can own and probably not lose any value if you have it as a weekend type car.

Ferrari - I always loved 360 styling (my dream car ever since it came out) and you can find early ones for under $100k easily. Need to look at 430s. The 458s are still at $200k or more for nice spec. I can’t imagine the 360s with nice spec going much further down in price. I have driven 430 and 458 previously but not a 360. They sound like heaven and probably would be the perfect car to get just for the “sound.”

I’m in no rush to get anything but really wish these car companies emulate Porsche GT3 and focused some models on emotional connection of NA sound and feel rather than 0-60 / 1/4 mile times where you are over 100mph in 3rd gear.
Similar to me...
I have a M4 convertible and an 911 997s C2.
I have never owned a V8, so I was thinking of getting a manual V8 RWD car.
I was going to get a Ferrari 360 manual, cause it was about $100k (USD), which is the difference between the 997 911 and 911 GT3.
Then, here in Australia, the prices just went up 30%, so manual 360's are about the within $10k of a F1 430's.

Been looking at manual E92 M3's - they were like $25k USD a year ago, now a decent one is $45k USD.
Then, that gets me thinking, do I just get a DCT... ?

Or just get a Mustang, but we don't get it with the Voodoo motor over here...

But to answer the OP's question - yes, I want a final V8 for once in my life

I miss my "slow" E93. I sold it in Texas and I am tracking that it is now rolling around the Ann Arbor area with relatively low miles. I would love to get it back.

How are you tracking the location of your old car? Carfax reports? Tracking device under the rear bumper?

I now have 2 V-8s. Just picked up a gated Ferrari 360.

Now my garage is:

4.2L, 420hp V-8 manual that revs to 8250 in a sedan
3.6L, 400hp V-8 manual that revs to 8700 in a mid-engined coupe

I think I have a type!

I added my now former E93 to "My Garage" on the Car Fax website by its VIN number and certain dealer services and its registration renewal get logged on the website. I have no idea who owns it, but do see that it has received services by the BMW dealer in Ann Arbor and was recently had its registration renewed in Michigan.

Apparently my 12 year old E93 only has its mileage in the low 50k range now. I ordered when I was last stationed in Germany, so my "slow" E93 did see a lot of autobahn runs prior to me selling in Texas when I returned to the US.

If fate ever allowed me to buy it from the current owner, I would be rather happy....
