Spotify Releases Car Appliance - "Car Thing"
A friend of mine forwarded me this interesting gizmo link. It looks like it's free for early sign ups! This would be great to modernize an older car or boat.

I am able to use the Sirius xm app for free in my van that doesn’t have sat radio. This would require me to add another line and they try to rip me off at the end of each trial period so that would be yet another line I’d have to hassle with.

No. You can use Bluetooth, but it does have to go through your phone, which in turn is connected to your vehicle (through Bluetooth or Aux).

Do you have unlimited data on your cell plan? If so, go into the app and set the streaming quality to the highest of the 3 settings, and you'll get dramatically better sound quality than either the satellite stream or the lower settings - allegedly the high setting is 320kbps. I used to stream it in my old Z4MC and it sounded fantastic.

Keep in mind that newer phones are doing away with AUX jacks. But I agree that its kind of pointless. Why on earth would anyone want to go through the process of connecting it to a power source, then connecting it to their phone via Bluetooth, then connecting it to their car stereo via cable or Bluetooth when they can literally just connect their phone to the car and run Spotify from the phone.

So what if you do like me and mount your phone on a vent? Is that considered part of the vehicle now.
