Haha, well Canada is like Finland but better languages and you have more population so you have actual cities.

For a new comer Finland is easily a shock. The refugee centers are often situated to smaller towns and if you don't know where the locals hang out, having a social life in the rural area is hard. A 22 year old won't appreciate the perks of my country but the former refugee friends I have like it there.

But yes. It is a rough and unyielding country. The language alone makes it hard to feel like you belong there eventhough everyone speaks English too.

We really don't have separate neighborhoods but as said before we royally fucked up our immigration politics for decades. We are now gathering the fruit of that since it is a hard place to connect with, and then our natives watch people having all the same benefits as they have and for nothing. Now we have programs that push education to new comers too and have great examples of refugees benefitting both ours and their home country from our education system.

It has taken time, and now at the time of a depression we see assholes like Perussuomalaiset party trying to press the ideology of Finland belonging to Finns only. Awesome, since they usually are the unemployed and uneducated in our country too, and they see the new comers eating their benefits.

Um no.

I do a food run daily, check out injuries and try to see if I can scam my rich friends out of their old shit and distribute them to those who have nothing.

I also "sponsor"women in abusive relationships by helping them get away. For that I use the contacts I make on my road trips all over the place since I'm awesome at sucking up to people who need low level employees.

Then I have the drug abusers families who I try to find their kids back for and I spend my time explaining the families the realistic chances of getting clean, so they will make sure their efforts match the kids problem.

I also have been a day care center here to those who can't afford it (I'm adequate with kids), and I've found about a dozen jobs to at risk kids around Seattle area.

I usually work from 6 pm to 9pm (hubby at home) and from 3am to 7am on this all, then I spread my lazy ass running around parks, grocery stores and so on the rest of the day.

Oh, I finance this shit on my own too. And I'm not doing it to get a slot in heaven, I'm doing it because I honestly believe the world should see those who are down on their luck as a resource, not something we just ignore and screw over for a buck.
