Thumbs up Tony Romo's Press Conference aka Acknowledgement Speech...

The Sports World and ESPECIALLY Players, could learn ALOT from both Tony Romo and Dirk Nowitzki these guys are "True Role Models, Team Players, and Class Acts"! Not "Selfish, Cry-Baby, Greedy Assholes" that plague todays professional sports! And I am very glad they are on my teams and in my city!

As a fan of Tony's, I could hear the despair in his voice and see it in his body language. Did Favre do this with Rogers? Did Bledsoe do this with Brady? Fuk no! Say what you will... The man is a pure class act and will be a future first round Hall of Famer.

Totally agree, he is a class act all the way...he will be a great starter for another team next year, and if he stays healthy (big if), he still has a few good years left.

Also so nice to hear this classy message after hearing all the depressing election stuff for the past several months

I don't know how anyone can consider him a solid bet for the HOF. He's far short of what is (and should be) required.

If Kurt Warner's a marginal candidate (which he is), then Romo's not a candidate at all. Romo is/was a better than average quarterback. That doesn't make him HOF worthy. Among active QB's, Brady is the only sure fire first ballot HOFer. After him comes Roethlisberger, Brees, Manning (as much as I bloody well hate him), and Rodgers. What separates them from Romo? They've won big time, big games, and taken their teams on their shoulders to do so.

And that doesn't include QB's on the early side of their career who will also likely merit consideration like Russell Wilson.

Give your head a shake. That he's a nice guy and has some grace and class has nothing to do with the HOF.

OTOH, Nowitzki ... there's a guy with an argument for the HOF.

Huh? Pretty sad? The guy has earned $127,000,000 so far in his NFL career. I wouldn't call it sad. He was injured and, while he was recovering, a better QB took his job. He didn't lose his job because he was injured, he lost it because Prescott's better (just as Brady was better than Bledoe).

No he was injured and a good quarterback has fit in nicely with the current group. He didn't lose his job cause Prescott is better, he lost his job because the team is winning without him.

On Romo's best day he's the 10th best NFL starting QB (and I think that's a generous assessment). Prescott is already pretty close to that with a whole hell of a lot more upside. Romo lost his job because Prescott is already as good as him and with more playing time will be substantially better.

You sir are SERIOUSLY delusional and or a major hater. His stats prove otherwise, And most, coaches, owners, GM's and players have him as a Top 5 QB and has been for quite sometime.

To all of the non-haters who can discuss sports objectively and who appreciate players outside of their own zipcode, what do you think will play out next season for Romo?
He has another huge payday coming should we keep him. It's great to have a HOF on stand by. But he has clearly expressed interest and ability to play and start!
I am torn but not opposed to trading for the correct pick(s).

Those who don't think much of Tony are not looking at his stats. Even Troy Aikmen has said that Tony is a better QB than he was, but hasn't had the teams to support him that Troy had. Tony is 14th on the all-time NFL list of come from behind wins with 25. Troy Aikmen is 53rd with 16. Troy has 3 Suoer Bowl rings that Tony doesn't however. I don't know if he will ever get voted to the HOF, but here are some of his records to chew on.

NFL records

Career
Most passing attempts through 100 starts
Most consecutive road games with at least one touchdown pass: 41 (2009 – present)
Highest QB Rating in month of December (133.7)
Highest QB Rating in 4th quarter
Most games with 135+ passer rating in a season (6)

Dallas Cowboys team records

Career
Dallas Cowboys career leader in passing touchdowns and passing yards
Games with 3+ touchdown passes: 40; previously held by Danny White (20)
Games with 300+ yards passing: 46; previously held by Troy Aikman (13)
Career passing yards: 33,626, previously held by Aikman (32,942)
Lowest career interception percentage: 2.6% (minimum 16 starts; previously held by Aikman with 3.0)
Touchdown passes: 245 (previously held by Aikman with 165)
Most 4th Quarter Comebacks/Game-winning drives (28) -(Previously held by Roger Staubach with 23)
Consecutive games with a TD pass: 38 (2012–2014); previously held by Romo (20, 2010–11)

Season
Games with 300+ yards passing: 9 (2012); previously held by Romo (8 – 2009)
Passing TDs: 36 (2007); previously held by Danny White (29)
Passing yards: 4,903 (2012); first and only Cowboys' quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards in a season (2007, 2009, 2011, 2012)
Completions: 405 (2012); previously held by Romo with (347–2009)
Attempts: 611 (2012); previously held by Romo (550–2009)
First quarterback in franchise history to average over 300 passing yards a game in a season (306.4 – 2012)

Game
Romo has twice thrown 5 TD passes in a game (Nov 23, 2006 and October 6, 2013) a record he shares with Troy Aikman (September 12, 1999.)
On Dec 21, 2014, Romo completed a team record 90.0% of his passes (18 of 20) in a home game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Most passing yards in a game, 506 yards against the Denver Broncos on October 6, 2013.

Top 5? Stats and QB rating mean SFA. A QB who wins is far more important than one with pretty stats. Know why Brady, Brees, Manning, Roethlisberger, Wilson, and Flacco are better QB's than Romo? Because they've won Super Bowls and they've all had that moment where they had to put their teams on their shoulders and do it themselves. Palmer may not have won a Super Bowl, but the same's true of him.

Then you add the younger QB's who are showing the same potential right now (Carr, Mariota, Prescott) ...

All are a better choice behind center than Romo.

Doesn't make Romo a bad QB, but it does make him the second best QB in Dallas and the second best option for the Cowboys. That's all I said.

I don't care what Dallas club records he holds. He's not a better QB than Staubach or Aikman and that he was maybe better than Danny White doesn't mean much. Stats don't matter for shit except when they make a difference in the win/loss column in big games.

When it comes to HOF status/discussions, they don't take playoff records into consideration. There have been plenty of great QB's who haven't won a SB:

Marino
Moon
Kelly
Jeff George (haha)

However, you are correct that Romo has come up short in big games. With only two career playoff victories, superb #'s in Sept/Oct (which is why I label him as Mr. October), he is a bar below the premium QB's in the league now. As a Giant fan I would take Romo in the regular season (a healthy Romo) but when it comes for playoff time I'm taking Eli all the way. He's a proven winner when it matters the most. I'm not saying Eli is great, he makes some bone head decisions, however, champions get it done no matter what with no excuses. As long as Romo doesn't go to the Jets, he can be a champion on another team.

I hope Romo goes to a good team, he's a great player.

Right now though, the cowboys are going crazy, swinging their Dak's around and hitting the other teams with them - no Romo though.
