Funny, he was at Irvine CA Cars & Coffee. He actually got a lot of praise for it from the conversations I over heard.

I respect the car for sure, it's his money and doing it is not exactly easy. It takes a lot of $$$ + commitment to do it. Who are we to judge?
Writing a check and buying a car anyone can do, this guy took it to a whole new level. Mustang is cool, though I would have preferred to do that to a new Corvette body now that would be something

Maybe, but I think the praise was genuine. C&C tends to attract more true car aficionados IMO who can appreciate a unique piece of work like this conversion. It's sort of the spirit of that community, and I've been a part of it for a long time.
There was also a guy here recently at C&C who dropped an M5 V10 into one of those VW Surfer vans, and he actually had part of the roof cut out for the exhaust. I didn't hear anyone criticizing the owner, they just wanted to know how he did it, and other details about the project. I find fanboys on forums tend to be the more critical and outright dismissive about projects like this, or cars that don't fit their fanboy profile, and tend to base their praise more on "what brand they homer for" (i.e - Lexus sucks, BMW rocks!). They are generally looked down upon at C&C from what I've seen.

It's an impressive project and all, but there is no way I would gut a perfectly good Gallardo for it. Now a salvage car on the other hand, I would have no problem using as a donor.

The only thing I wish the guy did was keep the rear end looking more mustang. Just looks odd with gallardo tail lights.

I agree, doing the power train as a gallardo and the body as a mustang would have been a cool looking car, an no Labo doors either. This is like those guys who use to be those WWII spitfire v12 engines in to cars.

I get what he was trying to do and it almost worked out...
In other news, I saw a Nissan 240sx (Silvia) with a V8 engine swap and it sounded so awesome but made me feel weird at the same time. His plates read "V8 BRO" |
