Kudos to Tischer and Sergej for Nav Upgrade
Paid Tischer (getBMWparts.com) $42 for 32gb nav upgrade usb stick (feel less guilty then using torrents to download) and then 50 Euros to Sergej for code (he responded to all e-mails in minutes and I had code in less than 1 hour from my first contact.
Took 45 minutes to install and done, now have 2013 maps over factory installed 2010. *****************

So...I like the price.
Hopefully you don't mind the noobish questions, as I just saw this thread and haven't searched, but: Who is Sergej? Where is this listed on the tischer site? Will this work in a 2009 (post LCI) E92 iDrive with Nav? Much obliged...

Sergej is a programmer overseas who can take your vin and produce the unique code to allow the upgrade to work so that you do not have to go to dealer.
Tischer is now mileoneparts.com http://www.getbmwparts.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462 Just select USB Media Only Should work on 2009 but early build dates still need dealer assistance (search for cut off date)

I assume you meant for a 2008 CCC navi? You would need to do the whole retrofit. It's the screen + headunit

It's not $42 anymore.. but $189, unless I'm missing something.
And I was... when selecting the USB media only and add to cart it shows $42. But, does that include the maps?? or just the USB stick empty? |

I just did the legit BMW version on USB last night (thanks to Tischer getBMWparts.com). It was super easy, if a bit slower than I thought. Went from 2009 to 2013 maps.

nav upgrade
I bought the same thumb drive map update from BMW of Silver Spring and tried to update my 2011 m3. The instruction said to enter your 20 digit vin number but BMW use 17. I could not get the update to work. What is the trick?
