I can proudly say...

j/k~

we'll see how Brawn and RBR deal with the rise of McLaren to mix up the front....
it wun be good news for RBR since they are playing catch up and cannot afford the McLarens to steal any points up front....unless of course....the RBRs took 1-2 podium and McLarens grabs 3-4.....then will be very good for Vettel and Webber...

I know! It reminded me of Ayrton Senna's death almost as soon as it happened. Senna (also Brazilian) could have died from a piece of the upright assembly that penetrated his visor. As soon as they showed the first replay and you could see the the spring hit Massa, that's what I thought of.

Especially with what just happened last weekend....it'll be devestating for motorsports if anything worse to happen with Massa this weekend...

Felipe Massa will not race in Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix after being knocked unconscious during a major accident in qualifying.

Word came through from Ferrari after a chaotic qualifying session that Massa was "okay" after being airlifted to a nearby Budapest hospital in a "stable condition".

A Ferrari official confirmed the Brazilian "was hit by something on the helmet, losing control of the car" in the closing stages of the middle 15-minute session.

Both team principal Stefano Domenicali and team spokesperson Luca Colajanni later confirmed Massa was out of the event and will have to undergo an operation.

Ferrari said in a statement that Massa will need to undergo surgery and will have to stay under observation in intensive care for an undisclosed period of time.

"After the accident during the qualifying session of the Grand Prix of Hungary, Felipe Massa was airlifted to the AEK hospital in Budapest," Ferrari said in a statement.

"Felipe was conscious at the arrival at the hospital and his general conditions remain stable.

"Following a complete medical examination it emerged that he had suffered a cut on his forehead, a bone damage of his skull and a brain concussion.

"These conditions need to be operated on after which he will remain under observation in intensive care."

The 28-year-old was struck by a piece of debris deposited by Rubens Barrichello's Brawn GP as he had earlier complained of something breaking at the back of his car.

Replays showed a part of the car coming off the Brawn and bouncing along the same area of the Hungaroring track where the drama began for Massa.

Massa later caught the debris, on one of his hot laps, which then bounced up, striking his helmet and knocking him unconscious.

Massa's feet must have relaxed at that point, one on the throttle as on-screen graphics showed it remained open, the other on the brake as there were skid marks across the considerable run-off area before he ploughed nose first into a tyre barrier.

The fact Massa made no attempt to turn out of the impact appeared to underline the fact he was not conscious as he hurtled into the tyres.

With Massa stricken in the car, photographs later emerged showing a fist-sized dent in his helmet, and with his visor up, there was a large cut over a blackened left eye.

Massa was soon attended to by trackside medics before being taken to the circuit's medical centre, then to hospital for further examination 22 minutes after his crash.
Quote:
Ferrari’s Felipe Massa will not race in Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix following his high-speed qualifying crash at the Hungaroring, the team have confirmed. Massa was airlifted to AEK Hospital in Budapest, where he is in a stable condition.

“Felipe was conscious at the arrival at the hospital,” said a Ferrari statement, adding that Massa had suffered a cut on his forehead, concussion and a bone lesion of the skull. These conditions need to be operated on, after which he will remain under observation in intensive care.

The Brazilian speared off the track and into the tyre wall at Turn 4 late in the Q2 session after debris, thought to be a suspension spring from the Brawn car of Rubens Barrichello, struck his helmet.

Medics were quickly in attendance and the start of Q3 was delayed as they extricated the Brazilian. After initial examinations at the medical centre, Massa, eighth fastest in Q2, was transferred to hospital for further checks.

Ferrari are expected to release an update on Massa's condition later on Saturday.

Qualifying Result...(which the result wasn't available for about 10-15mins after the Q3 checker flag...)

it was fun to see Alonso running around asking what time did they do....i felt like the "check in counter" at Cheesecake Factory during rush hour when the drivers were waiting results and being weighted....)

(Does anyone know who or anyone will be substitute for Massa tomorrow? Ferrari's test driver?)
