I was really hoping they lost, for his sake. Would have made this thread a little more interesting....

I just finished watching the game, had to record it.

I felt good by 3rd quarter. 10 total yards in the quarter by Wisconsin, and we basically scored 2 TD (1 early in 4th).

Defense played really well. I knew they had no chance beating us with the pass.

I'd like to see other "southern" teams go up and play in the rain with Wisconsin coming off a bye. Next weekend is the white out night game at Penn State.

Clemson's escape was less impressive. Ohio State's controlled the game starting in the 2nd half. Clemson was starring down the barrel of the gun and had a prayer

You do realize teams play at different levels throughout the year?

Bama 2015, lost to Ole Miss in week 3. Ole Miss went on to lose to Florida, Memphis and Arkansas, all unranked teams, then finished the year beating ranked teams (Miss State, A&M, LSU and OK State)

Oh, we're ready. Should be a good game. Vegas thinks its gonna be a blow out. The line is -16.5. This will be the true test on just where my alama mater stands with amongst the big boys.

Mark Richt will recruit good talent, but he needs to hire an offensive coordinator and a better special teams coach. Looked like Al Golden was still HC on last 2 Saturdays.

^I don't know I think it takes more than coaching, feels like Miami sort of lost it's past recruiting edge. They're losing the best talent to out of state and FSU these days.

They definitely need to step up recruiting and I expect Richt will do a better job with it than his predecessors. But it isn't just recruiting, it's developing the players. To the degree they have gotten good recruits they haven't been doing a good job developing them for the past 15 years. Realistically it will take years for him to turn it around.

In the short-term, though, the offense looks pitiful and it shouldn't be that bad. Special teams have had some very bad moments last 2 weeks and they aren't good enough to absorb those kinds of mistakes.

As a passive watcher of Miami football, it's also apparent that the culture of excellence wasn't instilled during past 2 coaches, and the pressure isn't there for the players to perform by the fans. Then the coaches gets cut a lot of slack and it passes on to the players.

For example, look at the what's happening at Texas. The moment they weren't comfortable with the culture of excellence was maintained, they cut Mack Brown and likely Charlie Strong. What I'm getting at is, the boosters, fans, etc, needs to set the expectations at the highest level, and anything below that is deemed a failure.

It creates undue and unwarranted pressure a lot of the times (look at how Saban acts the way he does), but pressure also brings out the best as well when you instill excellence as part of the recruiting and culture.

I agree with you and actually think it is three coaches (Golden/Shannon/Coker even though Coker won a NC with Butch Davis' players). Part of the problem was the past president's refusal to place value on the program. She was ok with mediocre and that's what we got. People, including alum in NFL, were complaining about Golden for a while and she wouldn't make a change. It took a new president and hitting bottom against Clemson to get rid of him. We also have a small alumni base - UM is probably 1/5 to 1/4 the size of FSU or Florida or other state schools. People don't always realize that. So voices aren't as loud and money isn't always there.

For me, it is painful to watch. I went to school there in 86-90 when UM won 2 national championships and the 2 teams that didn't win it all may have been better than the 2 that won. As a student and young alum, I would go to games thinking about how much we would dominate, not whether we would win or not. I think Richt was a great hire and expect he will make a big difference, but it will take several years. Butch Davis did it in the late 90s after the last drop off. Need to get the expectation of winning every week back.

Well part of the way Miami won back in the day was the improper benefits. Like what you said, the money had to be there one way or another to boost up the culture. And certain boosters elected to pay the players instead.

The Pell Grant scandal was bad. The Nevin Shapiro thing was a mess and didn't net them anything - they weren't good during the years he said he was doing what he did. Doesn't excuse it but scandals and college sports have gone hand in hand for years. Various programs have involved improper benefits, accused rapists, domestic violence and even decades-long child molestation for PSU.

They were tough moves to see happen but UM did the right thing when it dismissed its top 3 returning tacklers on defense and one of its top recruits this year for improper benefits, lying and not following team rules.

I'm going to call it for A&M this weekend. The A&M offense will score often and pressure Bama freshman QB to throw the ball to win a game which he hasn't had to do all year

Don't see that happening in Alabama. You should lay a bet if you are confident, A&M are huge dogs. I have seen A&M up to 19.5 point dogs.

Next week is where Bama could have some trouble. At LSU, against a team with a chip on their shoulder and nothing to lose. Fournette is coming back this week against Ole Miss, so he will be primed for the home game against Bama.

CBS makes that call. The TV contract w/ the SEC gives CBS first pick for that 2:30 Central/3:30 Eastern time slot. Then ESPN gets to pick through the rest of the games for their various networks.
