Same thing happened to my wife when she got in her accident back in July. She would have been fine, no injuries had it not been for the airbag. She had burns on both her arms and bruising from the airbag. Also sprained her wrist.

I remember helping a guy who drove into a badly placed center divider when turning left. He might have been going 5 MPH, but probably less when he ran up the curb. Airbag deployed and it looked like his arm was severly broken, although not quite compound. He couldn't hear us asking him questions because the darn horn wouldn't shut off after the airbag deployed throught he steering wheel. I finally found a wrench and removed the battery cable. The only damage to the minivan was the deployed airbag and steering column. . .

Try having one hit you directly in the face from about a foot away because you're 5'0" and need to sit as close as the seat can possibly go.

Hey lucky you were in a safe car, glad to hear you are ok.

While we are all sharing airbag stories, a supplier of Dads used to have one of the early E36 3's that had airbags when I was a teenager. He was driving a client in the car and the passenger airbag went off unexpectedly and broke his arm!!

You would be absolutely mortified wouldn't you!?

Suprisingly, he still got the business! Has made me wary of them ever since.

First, really glad you're OK. Accidents SUCK!

As far as airbags go, I never had one go off, but wish I had. Was in a '58 Mercedes, pre airbag, damn even pre seatbelt I think, and got hit head-on.

Put a head-sized hole in the windshield--with my head, of course. Without getting too much into gory details, got my face ripped open and my knees jammed into the dash.

I was indeed mortified! I'm a life-long fan of seatbelts and airbags.

WOW!!

That sounds real bad man. But still atleast you are still here to talk to us on this forum.

Can understand why you are such a big fan of airbags and seatbelts today.

But swear you this they hurt when those bags hit you.

Was in a friends passenger seat of a mk IV jetta. We were at a full stop at a stoplight with cars all around, the light had been red for a bit. A Lincoln Navigator drunk driver did not make any attempt to stop and rear ended us at 40 MPH. A skateboard shot through the armrest/trunk area and ruined the CD player/ dash area, everything fromt he trunk was int he back seat..... not one airbag deployed. Luckily nobody was hurt seeing as there were only peopl in the front seats... i still dont understand to this day

Glad your still alive, but airbags don't deploy when you are rear ended, because then you move backwards and not forwards toward the airbag modules.
