Just installed BMW Performance Suspension myself this weekend. Not a tough job... Mostly just an extensive one. I should point out that I was able to get the Performance strut assembly into the fender without spring compressors at all. The key is to have a 3 person team. One person pushes the hub down with their foot, another guides the strut assembly into place, and a third is behind the wheel. Start with the hub turned all the way to the right (I believe) for the driver's side. Once you get the strut inside the wheel well, have helper #3 turn the wheel to center. The Performance strut assemby is about an inch shorter than the OEM suspension, but I actually think you might be able to get the OEM assembly out without spring compressors usig this method. I just didn't think to try it.

I've tried it, and there's no way to do it without compressing the spring by at least 50mm. Also, I used about 5 layers of racers tape (a less sticky variety of duct tape) on the fender lip, to keep from scratching things.

Did you figure out the issue we chatted about?

Sure did... Thanks! The washer was upside down like you suspected.
