Worse than that was the 4Matic wasn't properly removed/buffed out from the trunk lid on the Benz... you could still see the outline.

To them it's worth the risk of being found out, they do not care and look away when called on it. I.E. Regardless of non-car people not knowing cars, I think many know a BMW is special (read premium brand), and the liar can butter themselves up to them about the ///M being even more special.

I saw an older e46 standard 3 series with M3 badge on it couple months back, didn't get a chance to take a picture. The dude legit thought the badge gave his car a supercharge because he was swerving through traffic like a maniac but after I got a look at his face it all came together.

You see a lot these janky 7 series in LA. It's a very LA thing to do. All about the appearance and perception of wealth when in reality, it's a 10 year old car with a salvage title, 10 previous owners, and a permanent check engine light. But don't forget the 22" wheels.
