however, i would definitely recommend that lens as it is a great walk around lens and bring in lots of colour better then any standard kit lens will. also for the price it does a good job tutoring you on depth of field and it's uses. Don't expect sharp images of anything more then 30-50 feet away as it is really meant to be used on things closer up. But otherwise, i think it's the best bang for buck lens in the entire canon lineup. |

OHhhh rodi, that looks really tempting! Can you talk more about it? I know you are one of the pro photographers on the forum, so i just want to hear your opinion about the Sigma.

i have never used that lens. but the OP wanted a "unique" lens to play around with for under $150. Sigma's are definitely unique. My Sigma 30mm has very interesting and unique out of focus renditions.
the vignetting is from putting the DX lens on an FX body. wouldn't have that problem with the Canon Sigma, as that's a full frame lens.

another cheap option:
$41 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._to_Nikon.html AND $49 (get the UG version) http://www.keh.com/camera/Nikon-Manu...090396250?r=FE i promise, you'll love the image you take with this, as long as you have the patience to manual focus and manually expose. you can send me the $50 difference you saved as a thank you. or with this one instead (just don't forget the adapter in the first link: http://www.keh.com/camera/Nikon-Manu...102007950?r=FE or with this one instead (just don't forget the adapter in the first link: http://www.keh.com/camera/Nikon-Manu...102007490?r=FE

I vote for the 35mm on the OP's crop-sensor body. The 50mm actually gives a field of view more like you'd want for portrait shooting vs. street shooting.
